those rockfords are great amps, small, powerful, effecient, great warranty, etc. Alot of companies waaaay overrate their amp, you can probably find an amp for 80 bux that says 1500watts on it, but with rockford you know what youre getting. just be careful with the terminals, ive sent like three back to rockford cuz someone overtightened it and stripped out the silly little mechanism they have for the power

even without a release agent, the foil usually peels off pretty easily as long as you put it down real smooth and theres no ridges to grab on, or seams for it to seep through. but a little bit of foil never really hurt

Honestly, i made the jump from like 300rms to 1200rms and didnt notice a night and day difference, it was louder, but it didnt seem like 4x the power louder. but then again we went from 400rms to 100rms in my buddy's truck and it was a night and day difference.

lets call the box 24 high, 28 deep, 26 wide (may be weird, i couldnt get it to tune right with a simple slot port otherwise, if you want it to fill the full width or something, let me know) double baffled top, brace left to right in center (assuming sub is top, port is back), and glassed corners would help, I left some room for you to do some 45's if you're feeling like building something bombproof. port is the width of the box, 4in high, 22 deep tuning is just under 32hz, assuming some bracing and glass, maybe some 45's, tuning should go up slightly, you have about 1 cubuc foot to play with before it goes over 34hz. If youre going to go nuts on bracing, add about 1 inch of port, 2 max. pm me with your plans and whatnot, or if you want a nice paint sketch of dimensions and such.

im really not a dick with it, I turn it down through my entire neighborhood, for like 4 blocks between my house and the main road, and never bump in my driveway or anything, the only time i ever did was right after everything was installed for the first time, when i was tuning it. 2pm on a Saturday, so its not like i woke anyone up or disrupted anything. one neighbor was walking her dog and asked what it was, so I told her and turned it down. but that one guy has called the cops on me i swear atleast 30 times TO MY HOUSE WITH NO PROOF, last summer alone. and got my friend evicted with the amount of complaints he filed against him, not one went through, no action was ever taken, but when the landlord found out there were over 400 complaints on his property, he kicked out the tenants. this guys is a real douche. You have no clue how annoying it is to answer the door to a police officer, with this middle aged jewfro wearing dickhead parked at the end of my driveway watching, 3-4 times a WEEK. Not one ticket came out of it, not so much as a warning, most of the conversations were along the lines of "this guy called and complained and...." so i point at him, go "yea, him? hes a dickhead, im sure you guys know him by name by now" the cop and i laugh, he tells me to stay out of trouble, i thank him for being cool and realizing whats going on, and he leaves.

agreed my honest suggestion is atleast one VERY beefy alt, a new battery under the hood, big three, atleast 2 beefy (like a d3100 powermaster or hc2400 kinetik) batteries in the back. that is an assload of power to be playing with if you dont have some experience. Not to mention a box to handle that kind of power has to be very strong and well built, and unless you have some experience with boxes, or atleast carpentry, youre pretty screwed. not to mention, the budget gets huge, its a kick in the ass when you spend 2 grand on batteries, wires, fuses, terminals, shrinkwrap, screws, glue, etc.

what impedance was it at? some amps that dont have low impedance protection just get hot if theyre hooked up to too low of an impedance. If they dont have thermal protection, they just fry themselves.

specs on that amp says 75wx4 @4ohm someone just won 20 dollars for it being a 300wrms amp congrats on a serious note, you would be shocked how much a draw a stock radio/amp/lights/ac/fan puts on the stock, low reserve battery. dont play your car with the engine off and you wont have any problems.

We usually put one or two under the dash so when they try to remove the alarm they have these things blaring in their ears and decide it's not worth it, if youre within a foot or so your ears ring for like 2 minutes afterwards. i wish i knew the part number, but im sure you can find it in a catalog, theyre usually listed as "piezo sirens" just make sure to pop the lil round black plastic cap off, its for jetski waterproofing, if its in your car you dont need it and it gets so much louder.

Im guessing the dimensions you have are from the edge of the rear flap to second row seat, low enough you can still see out the back window, and wide enough to touch both wheel wells. two boxes, each 22.75 wide, 20 high, 27 deep. that gives juuust over 5 cube net internal volume. considering the port is gonna be something like 19.75x4x22 to give that tuning, its just over a cubic foot, and the sub is going to be starved im not sure how much height you can spare, but if you went 2 boxes, 22.75x26x27 with a port using the back floor which ends up being the internal width(19.75) and about 4.5 inches high by 23 inches deep, you hit the minimum of 5cubes a sub plus port. from what figure, you should be just over 35 hz tuning, like 35.1 or 35.2, but its close enough heres a quick lil diagram so u know whats up http://img524.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mrafricabu4.gif as far as that amp, if it actually made that power, i'd be shocked it looks like a bad rockford knockoff, and its power acoustik, not the best brand in the first place. 4g inputs and rms is claimed at 1700. i'd spend the extra cash and get something like audioque aq2200's or something similar, not some chinese made plastic throwaway big ass number on the box amplifier. if power acoustik has the technology to get near 6kwatts on 4g and 160amp draw, were all doomed not to mention, the one picture i found of the side showcases 4 atc fuses. atc maxes out at 40amps, 160amp draw seems right for 1700watts. i legitimately looked this thing up and down and spent like 45 minutes designing you a box and checking this amp out, dont buy it unless you realize that best case scenario, youre getting a shitty quality 1700MAX amplifier. you DO get what you pay for, that said, http://www.audioque.com/aq/AQamps2200D.htm <my suggestion, quite a few people have used them with very positive reviews, and its a legit 2200 watt amp. 2 of those, a few batteries, some zero guage, and a nice alt, mechman and iraggi should both have some for your car, and you should be ready to thump.

big market if you can make ~75 dollar free air 8's, toyota/acura/lexus/etc all have them in the rear deck, and when they blow out alot of people just want it replaced, a box is out of the question.

my buddy made a 4 sided box back in the day and was asking why his subs weren't loud.... it was literally just 4 sides, front back top and bottom, no left or right. guess he didnt get the whole 6 sided box thing, too complex

if you exceede the 1:8 ratio by much it makes port noise pretty pronounced, and with some setups the air can get over the speed of sound and make some funky shit happen. some kid at a car show had a port so tight it almost sounded like it whistled, it was so weird

I told this to a customer one day, 1 farad=1columb of electrons at 1 volt. 12 volt car=1/12 columb of electrons. 1 columb of electrons in one hour=1 amp. smallest battery we have is 20 amp hours, or 480 times the reserve of a capacitor. now who is dumb enough to get a capacitor knowing that (i may be wrong on the math, physics was a long time ago, and im drunk, but it should be right)
