my box I built today, how does it look?
Chris from Mi replied to Emoxihax's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Nice job, first box or not. Whats the specs of box and woofer? oh and amp -
how much power do you plan on running? because 4 gauge for your big 3 will be more than enough for plenty of current due to it being so short. I have also heard of people burning the + terminal of their alternator using 0 gauge wire because of the small resistance in the wire, and the higher resistance in the terminal. Terminal heats up and damages the alt.

HU that controlls USB and/or iPOD
Chris from Mi replied to Airborne's topic in Head Units-Processors and Eq's
i just bought an alpine cda-105 and for the most part really like the ipod controls, and the large dispay. The only thing i wish i had is the ability to scroll through the letters of the artists, then find the artist as opposed to scrolling through 400+ artists. -
Why dont I see a lot of port forward setups?
Chris from Mi replied to Tek's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
for an aztek sub up port back will probably be the loudest -
Even though you will have more power, i think it will be close, and i wouldn't be surprised if the 15" is going to be louder than the 10" simply because of the increased cone area, 1500 watts can not have that big of a change on the output. Oh, though there is no d4 level 5, i'm pretty sure there is a d1

Well i finally got around to installing the second skin door pack i won about a year ago. Dont worry, i have a good excuse- no more than 2 weeks after i won my damplifier my engine blew and i've been carless up until about 3 weeks ago when i picked up an 02 dodge neon auto 4 door. This is the first time i have installed any kind of sound deadener once i got the hang of the 1st door, the second went really fast. I really liked the deadener, however it was sometimes difficult to peel off the wax paper, (which is probably my fault for putting pressure on it in the time that its sat in my closet). In my doors i put a pair of peerless 6.5 mids, mb quart x over and tweeter powered with a jbl 75.4 The damplifier pro really brought out the midbass that i definitely did not have with my stock mids on h/u power. Now for pics: Finally got both front doors done:

the sub will unload when it is played below the tuning frequency of the port. The sub will begin to dangerously unload about 6 hz below the tuning frequency when this happens the sub acts as if it were playing free air. If there is an object below the sub the object will cause the cone to load unevenly which can damage the coil. In your case it looks like there is a flat wall behind the sub, so you wont have any loading issues unless you wang the hell otta it way below tuning freq

My future woofer design project
Chris from Mi replied to judeh101's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
i'm curious how you plan to tune a sealed enclosure, and as to why the 10's are there in the first place if you want high numbers at low frequencies? -

how much power do you plan on putting on it? -
Unclipped signal, yes. They are a bit underrated for their thermal power handling from my knowledge.
