  1. Considering high end audiophiles in home audio try to eliminate as much noise from an AC power supply as possible I don't see converting back and forth to be any better than a nice 12v DC amplifier.

  3. nooooooo, thats the gain Yes the "level" knob is the gain knob, the 0.2v to 6v however refers to the pre out voltage of the deck and is meant for "matching" purposes when setting an amp (which are worthless). It gets louder when he turns it towards 0.2 because the amplifier would have to amplify a 0.2v signal much more than a 6v signal, and vice versa.
  4. That number refers to the pre out voltage of the deck. Don't trust it to set your amp up worth a damn, get a DD-1 or Scope to set it right.
  5. Every girl is different, just be yourself, some will bite some won't. Don't change the way you do things just to go get a girl or that's just starting out with a lie basically, and girls HATE lies. Or you can date an ugly chick to score hotter chicks, girls want a guy that's already in a relationship because they're all nucking futs.
  6. I like tequila too, but scotch is my all time favorite.
  7. Turned out great! Haha Oh there was more than one shot... just one shot on camera Thanks! And it is 5 times distilled, it's a $100 dollar bottle of vodka, pretty damn good.
  8. Just me and some friends having a failure of a time opening a bottle of vodka, subscribe if you're interested in product reviews we have a lot on the way, this was supposed to be one but got comically out of hand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaLZL3aZbf4
  9. actually you are wrong bro.....your ALTERNATOR(s) are there to supply the system and everything in the car while it is running. The batteries are only there for when you have more system then you have alternator and drop below its maximum charging ability during heavy use. That or if you are playing the system with the car OFF (like at the beach or something like that.) basically while the car is running, the alternator should be doing ALL the work. I understand that, I guess I oversimplified it a bit when I wrote it.... Even with multiple HO alternators chances are they are not going to meet the current demands of a very large multiple amplifier setup and having extra batteries is there as a buffer like you said to keep your voltage up. When your alternators cannot keep up with the demand the batteries would be used and then recharged by the alternator. Current goes where current is needed is a better explanation than what I had said, the alts will power the amps when the amps are drawing current, and anything the alts cannot provide will be assisted by batteries.
  10. Batteries store electricity, alternators convert mechanical energy to electrical energy and charge the batteries. In simplest terms a battery or multiple batteries are what is actually running your amplifiers, the alternator(s) are there to recharge the batteries.
  11. I remember a video where they compared the DD-1 to a ridiculous THD tester and the light came on the DD-1 right when the machine said 1% THD every time, don't know how the board works, but Tony knows his shit (for an ASU grad )
  12. Technically yes it would "sound better" with the Alpine because the amplifiers have to do a little less work and Sony isn't exactly the best in my book... Will you notice it? Depends on how SQ you're really trying to go. If it's just a daily driver with a stereo 4volt and up are nice, but not necessary. If you want to get REALLY into SQ this is hands down the best source unit you can buy: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-IjSczJRCKjF/p_130DEXP99R/Pioneer-Stage-4-DEX-P99RS.html
  13. I'd say in Cali your best bet would be video taping them while you call the police, try to get their faces or some information like a license plate number (if they drove) on video and hand that over to the cops when they show up long after the criminals are gone so they at least have something to work with.
  14. If I had a wagon/hatchback I feel I'd be damn close to 150 on my 2 LVL4 12's in 1.6 cu/ft each, but sadly I only have a sedan with seats that don't fold down...
  15. Probably poorly made, if there is any sort of warranty on it I'd make them take it back and get something different.
  16. Real Life: FN SCAR Red Jacket RTS-ZK-SD FN FiveSeven Glock 20 Glock 36 Browning 1919 HK 416 Gold Desert Eagle 50AE (I know it's dumb but I have wanted one since I was a kid) S&W 500mag Dream: Legal post '86
  17. Even a blown sub will read something on a meter usually.... Maybe a tinsel lead snapped on it? What amp were you powering it with?
  18. That is some good craftsmanship looks awesome! And I'd love to have a shop to work in that looks like yours Haven't done it and don't plan on it haha, maybe someday if I have extra money sitting around I'll throw a hotdog on it. Yeah it's 80 bucks for the brake cartridge, and sometimes the blade can be salvaged, other times it needs to be replaced. There is also a way to override the brake on it if you are cutting wet wood. Thankfully it's never tripped on me. I can only imagine how much easier it would be to build things with huge tools like that.
  19. I'd love to get into building some more stuff, it's a fun activity. I love that saw too it's great, look forward to seeing what you've built! So do I technically haha just gotta practice Awesome yeah I have tool storage and carts I've built and modified before. Thanks for the offer on the slides too, I'm not sure how many drawers I'll be building soon but I'll let ya know! That'd be awesome to have access to all those tools, I just have my garage setup with a few tools. How do you like working there? Thank you I like it as well! x2. Key word TRY lol. Practice practice practice! Did anyone else try to wipe the bug off your screen when you looked at Twostrokes sig? lol I just noticed that, now my eyes are gonna gravitate to it every time he posts
  20. Glock 19/21/22 Ruger SR9 or SR40 FNH FNP-45 and FiveSeven Springfield XD series See what fits best in your hand, and what caliber you feel most comfortable shooting. .380 is about the smallest you'd want to go and is really not a "defense" gun as much as it's a conceal gun (which is why I didn't list any), 9mm is good and will take someone down (provided they're not all drugged out), .40 is a very comfortable round and is one of the most popular law enforcement rounds for a reason it's effective and manageable, .45 is a great round for defense but you may have to get used to some kick depending on how big you are. The 5.7x28 in the FN FiveSeven is a great round, very little recoil and a ton of energy, but the gun also isn't that cheap, and neither is the ammo.
  21. I build some stuff with my wood tools when I'm not building boxes and thought I'd see if anyone else just liked woodworking. This is a project I'm almost finished with, it's a drawer to go under a bed for storage, just gotta get some foam in, and a lock and it'll be set. It's 1/2" birch cabinet plywood, and a 3/4" piece of solid red oak for the face of the drawer. It's 48" wide and 21" deep by the way so it's a pretty big drawer. Wood all cut Drawer Built: Beginning frame: Drawer slides aligned: Drawer in place: Beginning staining: Finished staining
  22. Stone spray paint works really nicely at filling in any gaps with the MDF. If you're looking for a solid color bed liner is good for black, otherwise be prepared to prime/paint/sand/paint until you get the desired effect.
  23. Proof? Anyway to david I run mid 40s with subs and port back because my backseats don't fold down. If your seats fold down I'd suggest sealing off and facing forward. I've heard good things about subs forward and port to the driver side if you seal at the back of the box, but I've never experimented myself.
  24. Nah, iPhone being put in front of the port made it sound like crap, and I have the crossover cutoff at 135hz so it may be getting a little bit of the mids at that part. In person it's very clean.
