  1. doesnt the mouth need to be bigger to be able to have a good low end? i know in a car it can be smaller but that still looks too small, but then again all ive done is read stuff on it and have no hands on experience with horns
  2. So what is wrong with wiring the back speakers into that module to get a signal to the amp?? seems to me like they did it the right way. not every one wants to buy a new radio just to have some added bass. ive done a few install where i had to use something like this to get signal to the amp without hacking up the factory wiring to use the hifonics modules..
  3. there have been some midwestspl shows in harrison, i think will be a few usaci shows later in the year, a more local one ARspl is suppose to have a few comps...buts its been starting late i think. I think there is a show on the 17th in searcy, just a shop putting something together.
  4. sounds like the cheapest shop ive ever heard about. tape measure, pencil, guide, circular saw, router with circle jig, drill, nail gun, air compressor, probably more things too
  5. this^^^ and also, why not use the search button, these "dc power handling" threads get made way too much.
  6. Oh really? OP, how much space do u have? 2 18s will take up around 2x the space of 4 12s in a properly designed enclosure. Not exactly. You can do 2.5 cubes per 12. I'd do 6.5 cubes Per 18, so 10 cubes - 13 cubes. Imo 2.5 cubes for ported is pretty big for most of the underground subs, unless if theyre being underpowered...but thats beside the point. Maybe I was off a little when i said "around 2x," but ill explain my reasoning. I bigger box needs a longer port to achieve the same tuning as a smaller box. Also, a bigger box would require more bracing than a smaller one in order to hold the same weight without flex (theoretically at least) Thats means that the box for 2 18s would need to have a bigger NET volume while adding more displacements (port and bracing). This would result in much more (for the most part) GROSS volume. For the rockford 1500? My first choice would be an Ascendant Audio Chaos. I believe you could custom order 18" Level 3s from DC too. Hit up dwright or CJ18 for the DC I wouldnt be trying to give out advice like this when you have hardly any hands on experience with any of the equipment.
  7. cept you got lvl 4 and mojo mixed up.. From the guy that has only tested the mojo .... Just sayin have you even ever seen or heard a lvl 4? I hardly even see lvl 4s on here, its always 4s with 5s soft parts or XLs. only heard XLs, but most ppl on here that say dc ftmfw have never even heard dc or the brand its versed against.
  8. 1.75 to 2 cubes per sub, around 100 sq inches of port, tuned between 30 to 38hz depending on how you like it.
  9. the older ones will look like this with the magnet boot without the boot
  10. Well asking that on this forum will most likely only get DC FTMFW type responses, the Mojos are a great sub, i had 2 doing about 48s with a daily tuning and 50s at 45hz. a little while after that i had them in a terrible box and burnt the subs so bad my trunk was full of smoke, but they are still going strong in another ride, there coils are just super black.
  11. yeah, there gonna want you to buy 10 of them to get dealer price. i laughed at that show when the tried to make a machete/katana mix. all they did was cut a piece of knife steel into shape and sharpen it, then were like omfg we made a katanachete... but since youre wanting a suppressor theyll be able to do that part right...
  12. It will do well on the 3500 watt amp, but it will also take more power too. you might be able to find a used Sundown 4500 for 1000 or 1100.
  13. thats what i was gonna say, ive never used them personally, but ive heard alot of good from them
  14. it looks like he only did that so he wouldnt have to strengthen the bend by something like how i do and back it with fiberglass, it also looks like its not even glued together. i find myself wondering why am i the only one i see on here that actually flares the entrance and exit of the port. noone else seems to do math either just makes lots of cuts. i do like seeing more ppl doing kerfs, nice job.
  15. Me? i use a router with a spiral down cut bit for the first hole
  16. I always cut the bottom layer first, then glue on the second layer and use a flush trim bit to get the second hole to match up.
  17. If you want to get a job at a show: learn things, build things, and gain more knowledge and skills as you keep doing it. Then start building for your friends, go to competitions and learn from other experienced ppl. Once you know youre good, not just think your good, go to a shop, strike a conversation with them, mention your system and ask if they want a demo. If you seem knowledgeable and your setup can perform and look decent maybe they will give you a shot. Thats pretty much what i did. i had some ppl i build for demo their stuff at shops. then one day i went over with them talked to there main installer for about and hour about just systems in general. i told them i had a comp and if they thought my buddy's stuff was loud, i would comp back after the comp and let them here a really loud one. i didnt make it back till the next week, but i told them i came back for a demo and they immediately brought 4 guys out to listen. at that time all i had in was 2 Fi bl 10s on an addictive 500.1. after the first demo the shop owner came out. a few minutes after the demo the boss sends one of the guys i had been talking to a few times out and they offered me a job to do their custom boxes. that was maybe 3 weeks ago, but i really dont wanna work for a shop and have all the fun taken out of what i do, and probably make less money off of it than i do now, and have to charge the ppl i build for even more since they are going to a shop to get it done
  18. 2 channel 600watt Pyle amp. just like this one only not the marine version http://cgi.ebay.com/PYLE-MARINE-AUDIO-600w-2-CHANNEL-WATERPROOF-AMPLIFIER-/400199126034?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item5d2dba0c12 after that i stepped up to a big 1200 watt pyle amp.
  19. are you sure? its word for word the same thread and post made last week by another new member.
