a box made for 12"s will be too small for 15"s... generaly. start over.

what kind of a repair are you trying to do? are you putting 12"s in? if so, i would just try it out since you already have it. maybe itll sound great, maybe itll sound like shit. no harm in giving it a shot.

when you get pulled over, take off your face plate and hide it. tell the cop you got in a fight with your GF and she took it and left. little trick alpine told me. sadly i dont have a removable face plate

im not sure what your saying your going to do now but i just want to make sure, you arnt putting the output wires on the factory amp to the input of the new HU are you?

then the current would go from engine to chassis to battery. the way he has it now it goes straight to the battery. i would think thats more efficient. unless im missing something.

ive never heard of a factory system doing that... but if you're sure.

the factory hu doesnt use rca's or a low level output. you need an amp with a high voltage input to use the wires running from the factory hu. that or a LOC then run your rca from that.

unplug the subs from the amp. put the leads from a DMM to the speaker outs on the amp. set DMM to AC voltage 20. turn the volume up as high as you want it to go (itll be your max volume) then turn the gain up till the DMM says 46.9v. then your done, plug the subs back in and have fun.

never got to work on one but i really wanted to buy my sister's when she sold it. looked like a lot of fun for a system.

its best to run your ground back up to the front battery but yes, grounding to the trunk should be fine. find a supported spot if you can so there is more metal for the bolt to grab onto. be sure to sand off the paint.

is what the same thing? the other outputs? the "front" and "rear" outputs will send a full range of the music and work with certain EQ settings on your deck. the subwoofer output only sends the lows and works with other EQ settings.

you mean on the back of the head unit there is a red and white rca female for "front" "rear" and just one rca female for the subwoofer, correct? those are all outputs. use a spliter on that single subwoofer rca.

oh snap, he went there. lol i know some shope do good work but ive been to a lot around here and ive been very disapointed with all of them. even something as basic as buying speaker wire turned into a fight at one shop because i didnt let him pon off some 18awg as 12awg to me. i do know of one shop in union city thats pretty good but they are only good because of one installer. the owner is still an idiot and the store looks like hell, and the other installers are pickups from home depot.

lol if only you were closer matt. i only have one shop i trust as well but even they dont do great work. they just dont do it wrong. but these guys seemed to give him a fairly good deal. subs, amp, box and install for $250.

everyone gets these calls every now and then. an old friend of mine just called me up today and said he just had a system put in at a shop and wanted to see if i could tune it tonight. well sure, why not. ill just bust out the o-scope and itll take about 30 seconds to set his gain, no big deal... of corse the local audio shops couldnt make it that easy now could they... but 1st lets talk about his setup. two 12" hifonics subs dvc 4ohm, powered by one powerbass or powermaster, whatever the fuck it is, 1000w MAX power amp. they left him the boxs so i look at them 1st. subs are rated for 300rms and the amp puts out 70w at 2ohm. he was a little pissed when i told him that lol. now onto the install. 1st i notice (surprise surprise) his gain is all the way up and the bass boost is 3/4 the way up. turned them both down, setup the scope and it starts to clip at 1/4 gain. so you know he must have had a square wave before lol. then i think... well i wonder what they wired it to... pull out the dmm and it says *drum roll* 8ohms! thats right, they wired it in series. so we rewired it and he went on his way. says he will return the amp asap and might buy an old one i have sitting around the house. i told him i was shocked he didnt call me before buying it and that i dont trust shops. i think he understands why now lol. im sure this story wont surprise anyone but i just thought i would add it to the shop failure list.

your tuning is going to be all off. the box is built already for 2 cubes and your going to add 3 ports. the box is now a good deal smaller and tuning changes. also at what volume does that manual say to use with these ports?

if you went from three 4" ports to one 4"port it will seriously hinder your subs output. you will probably also get port noise. if your having a problem getting the ports to fit in the box at the lower tuning you want then dont use round ports. use a slot port and you wont have a problem going as low as you want.
