these posts are so pointless don't know if you're seeing the point i'm trying to make. if you went with DC because everyone else is, then you're jumping the bandwagon. if you did research into the company, compared their products with other products for your scenario, saw that DC fit your cost/needs the best and went with them, that is not jumping the bandwagon it's like sports, if you root for a team only when they do well, you're a bandwagoner. but if you root for them when they do poorly AND well, then you're not a bandwagoner, even when they're doing well. what i'm saying is don't rule out a good company just because others have seen that it is a good company and use their products. no company is successful without customers.

port area will be fine, tuning is a little high for my liking, but may be ok for you however. what concerns me is the port ratio. that's going to be a pretty thin port (when considering port ratio). it's possible it may cause some port noise.

tuned low?? depending how much port area he is talking about, the box would probably be tuned pretty high unless the port was ridiculously long to make up for the high amount of port area. which means the box itself would also have to be bigger and by 16 he means sq inches per foot. and i say yes, i'd stay within 12-16 sq inches of port per foot unless you really know what you're doing when it comes to designing boxes

i know i know, i've seen topics like this before. searching showed no results tho. but i bought a carputer, and should be able to buy the screen here fairly soon to mold into my dash and i'm looking for a nice head unit with a decent equalizer in it to go along with it. right now i have a DEH-P6900UB which is an ok unit, just not my all time fav. so i may try to sell that one if i find a good replacement. i have a couple in mind but want to see what others' opinions are. or if i should get a separate eq altogether. not too much experience with head units. i've usually had in dash screens or just a cheapy unit to hold me over oh yeah and i'm not looking to spend a fortune. just enough to get something satisfactory

depending on how many walls your port is will determine what dimensions you use for port volume. for example a port with 3 independent sides will have a different displacement than a port with 1 independent side. keep that in mind. will it make much of a difference? maybe not, but precision is fun
