  1. port area is based on net volume, not power. so yes...you'll be very well off with that port area.
  2. box sounds good to me. there's adequate port area. but...keep in mind the RE calc isnt 100% accurate. i used mine and i get 8.19 cubes after all displacement and tuned to 33.37 hz. if you wanted to tune it just a tad higher, you shorten the port to 21" and it'd tune it to 34.95 hz to be in you're frequency range. it'd give you about 8.62 cubes after displacement. that puts you almost right where you are with the one you have now except i counted in sub displacement. and to take a pic, press the 'PrtScn' button and paste it into paint. crop it how you want, save it, and upload it to photobucket
  3. i've had both. 2 18" solo x's, and 4 15" btls. i liked the btls WAY more than the solo x so they get my vote. the solo x's were somewhat of a pain in more way than one too
  4. they're around, and not cheap. i'm seein em for around $1k
  5. where exactly are you trying to post pics from? good man you wont be disappointed. i loves mines
  6. i've been unemployed a month, bank is -170+, and i have two credit card payments that will make it -270+. fuck that and fuck my life lol.
  7.  i get newsletters occasionally, but i didnt get this one? unless i deleted it which i dont think i did. oh well no biggie
  8. if you're lookin for a good solid 2k watt amp, you've found one. it'll outperform your expectations and you'll be one happy customer
  9. yeah i thought as much, but just wanted to throw that out there
  10. i have two in the same tray. smaller than stock. had to cut it up a lil. but no pics sorry but i cut myself some all-thread rods and screwed them to the plastic stock holder, then used a small metal bar about 1" wide to go over top the batteries to each all-thread and used bolts to hold them down. nice tight fit
  11. yes, but helps in *most* scenarios. not always a guaranteed plus but i'd go into it with confidence at least
  12. i just use windows media player if i need to whip somethin up. click, drag, burn. it's easy
  13. a box 11" high, 36" wide and 20" deep with a port of 3.5" x 10.5" and a length of 22" (18.5 physical inches) gives you 2.88 cubes of space after all displacement and tunes the box to 34.55 hz. that will sound fine when compared to the 33 hz you were aiming for. and maintains enough port area without sucking out all your box volume. doing a 4" x 10.5" port, the port would have to be 30" long and would get you to 34.18 hz with only 2.59 cubes of space. and just fyi...punching in those numbers to double check on the RE calc wont help, i use the one i've made. it's easier (imo) and more accurate
  14. theoretically yes, it does take longer for the current to travel through the longer wire, but do you know how fast it moves? VERY very fast. compare it to a 3 inch tube filled with 3 inch balls from front to back. then take a ball and push it in the front of it and see how fast it takes for the one in the back to pop out
  15. i'm wondering why you'd think steve was really all the way in illinois :01nocomment8so:
  16. oh DAMN! if i only had the money. i've been wanting to upgrade my evga 8800GTX lately. pc still holds up very well in all games i play and all...but i just want more i can only imagine how nice this would hold up. GL with the sale
  17. a brief look at those dimensions looks like it'll work. i shortened the width 3" which gives us JUST under 6 cubes (which will be ok imo) but how wide is the battery? so i know how much smaller to make the width exactly
  18. shoot me the dimensions you have to work with, for the pair of 15's, and i'll come up with a design for ya to try out
  19. on the contrary...i read from an engineer or mechanic or someone (very knowledgeable regardless) that said doing the big 3 is a great idea regardless. sound system or no sound system. it allows for more current flow and he said afterwards when he did it everything in his car would just run smoother. air conditioner ran cooler, etc.
  20. i'd do this as well. box design plays the main role in an install. throwing another sub in a poorly designed box will get you same or slightly different results (could be good, could be bad). DC and FI both carry good subs, but so does sundown, so switching companies wont change much in sound imo. think of it this way (bad analogy incoming lol) say you cant sleep at night...so you change blankets a few times (subs) and still cant sleep. it's because what you really need to do is change the mattress (box) hahahah redoing the box will cost money for wood, but save you in selling your subs, shipping your subs, purchasing new subs, and still get the same output. you just need the perfect 'mattress' lol
  21. what i think fritos was gettin at is if you have a really hard time fitting those cubes in an enclosure then you may be better off with smaller subs to properly fit it. if it was something like sub up/port up in 10 cubes for example, and you could squeeze that in the back of your truck with enough port area and everything, then i'm sure that'd be fine. but if you try to squeeze 10 cubes in a trunk, then the subs might be right up in the trunk lid and port up close against the latch with no room for the pressure to go through to the cabin since the box is so big, which in that case you'd wanna downsize to get a more properly made enclosure in which would entail more output. bigger isnt always necessarily better. but it depends on the application to say the least. porting to the side doesnt hurt either. i've seen plenty of people do it, especially in trucks like yours. tho it's ported closer to a wall of the truck. trunk cars do it a lot too. actually, banginaltima from this forum is doing a build like that in his car. subs up (i think) and port to the side. also...if you can't fit 2 12's side by side from the back of the seat to the back of the truck, i wouldnt put both of them in a t-line to keep phasing issues out of the question. it *looks* like you could in the pic tho
  22. i wouldnt say it's whether 'someone was scared'. that's a pretty sloppy statement imo. it's just a better idea to have them face the same direction. i havent dont it myself, not 'because i'm scared', but because i havent needed to. but look at some of the crazy fiberglass enclosures that some people make (timmy's comes to mind first). there may be some cancellation in such enclosures, but timmy's gets nice and LOUD, especially for a sealed box. if it came to me and i had to do such a thing, i'd just put a piece of wood inside as a separator making each subwoofer in its own effective enclosure. why dont you quit being so scared and do it eh? (sarcasm...dont take it the wrong way )
