      I tried restarting all sorts of ways to no avail(sp). Then I thought to myself, its not resetting far enough back. So, in safe mode, I searched the help section for changing the restore point when doing "system restore".

      That was a PITA because not all programs are accessible in safe mode. The error was during a Windows update overnight, so I changed the restore time to before that failed update. Good to go.

      I have ordered two discs for my children's lap tops for that same reason. I have not been able to restore or reset to factory if my life depended on it.
