What track when over powering subs?
MrSkippyJ replied to tbeats's topic in SMD Distortion Detector (DD-1) Topics
But it would still be clipping right? Impedance rise doesn't limit clipping does it? -
Epoxy onto D pro?
MrSkippyJ replied to 06RTCharger's topic in Second Skin Sound Deadening and Automotive Insulation!
What seems reasonable is if you dont have the skills to install stuff to let someone else do it, not come up with crazy ideas to install stuff. -

I'm not worried about the epoxy, even though it's thick foil it's still foil. You can pretty easily cut that shit with a box cutter. The foil can very possibly tear. It would have to pull away from the butyl andhesice stuff too but it's just a bad idea. And what's the point? Why not just mount them the normal way, I must have missed this somewhere. I do agree with you though, it probably won't go anywhere. Just seems like a dumb idea. -

Until the first time hits his brakes hard and the amp goes flying and he blames second skin saying they told him it would be ok. -

No way in hell I would trust that. You mean no screws to actually mount the spacers right? -

You are going to mount the amp to foil using epoxy? -
sundown scv 3000
MrSkippyJ replied to basslife919's topic in Sundown Audio - GREAT Amps/Subs! GREAT Customer Service!
That depends on it the phase is a 0/180 switch or a knob that can select anything in between. You can use it to switch the polarity of the subs if you have them reverse mounted, and if it is a 2way switch that is probably what it is designed for. If its a knob that lets you select and anything between 0 and 180, then it's likely intended use was to align the subwoofer phase with the front stage phase. -
But that's not the point he is making. He's already said that he understands that there is probably a draw somewhere. He's saying that his customer service experience was bad. They told him to buy the s3400 from them so it would be in warranty after he described his situation and when his s3400 died they didn't hold to the warranty they said would be with this new battery. He's not blaming XS for the battery being dead. It is in warranty though, there just isn't anything wrong with the battery. Or am I not understanding something?

it is louder when playing (0db that is). it's why your gain would be set lower on -10db. the lower db settings are simulating musical averages. 0db is the loudest recording setting. All the way up. However we all listen to music and know that not everything is recorded at that volume. Sometimes its recorded lower, the lower db settings on the CD are guesses to what that average will be.

They had one back in the day and this months SOTM prize is a level 1 sub. It might just be some old ones that were laying around though.

So are DC amps worth the money? its impossible to answer this, what defines the worth of any thing differs from person to person.
