some doors i did today. what do you guys think?
Reilly replied to JaM Customs aka mprete's topic in Mid's and highs
I'm not a fan, but it's about the customer. I just have to say it's nice to see someone say they are looking for constructive criticism, and then actually take it without getting butt-hurt, props to you. -
Sadly, the reality is that allthough sound, particularly quality of sound is truly subjective, it is in fact going to be based on what the best thing you have heard is. So if you have only heard Skull Candy ear buds on an iPod, or your buddies BTL, you have nothing to compare to. This is where a nice brick and mortor shop is nice to have around to audition high end sound. Even better is to get into some high end home audio where good music can be demonstrated properly. Best of all, go to a live concert, not a rock concert, but something small and live. Because woofers are meant to be more than just hair tricks, they should contribute to the overall sound reproduction. Second and third harmonics can be felt in the body, even if the mic doesn't show it to mean much. Sorry, End Rant.

any box builders in the central cali area
Reilly replied to ROAD_DOG's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
A good part of that is also what side of the measurement they cut on, of if they cut on the line itself. I find if you tell them where exactly to cut that it comes out with much better results. You can only expect so much out of an employee and asking then to consider the width of a blade might be above their pay grade LMAO "above their pay grade" -

It depends on the associate you get, some will do it. Good luck on the cuts though. Either of their vertical saws are off from 1/8" to 1/4" per cut, lol. -
Lmao

I've always had good luck with side loaded ports in single cabs.

Fractured rib, WTF????
Reilly replied to OrionStang's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
My best friend did the same thing. Took 6 month to heal. Kept re-fracturing it. He is a heavy smoker, late 30's. Really sucked. I've broke 5 ribs in a mountain biking wreck. Healed faster than my torn back muscles or shattered collarbone ;p -
Engine swap?
Reilly replied to AFLEM's topic in Engine and Performance - Anything for that couple extra horses!
I'm sorry, but lol at a D series in an Accord. Heavy cars need displacement unless you want to be in boost on that small motor and small turbo 20g just to keep up with traffic Just go H22. Simple swap, get the swap at hmotorsonline.com. Good to go. -
Need brand/model of radio. Most will work with anything similar to the shape of the correct keys.

If you have 1500-3k watts, a DD9512/15, or AA Mayhem are a couple I'd stand behind. IMO the JL W7 is sloppy and slow ported, good sealed, I'd rather see someone with 2-w6's.

New sub arrived. Need help
Reilly replied to semtex's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
No, that's not normal. It looks like someone forgot to solder the tinsels in. I'd contact DC to see how they want you to handle it. It is fairly easy to do yourself if you have a solder gun. Maybe someone on here lives near you and can do it for you easier than sending the speaker back. -
I have one, pretty much brand new.
