RAY,CJ,DEWRIGHT, Need help...mega build starting need answers
tonedeaf replied to ChrisLun's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
A 320 and 4 batteries you could probably get away with 6 or 7k with an efficient amp. Deepsilencer is running a DC 9k on a 320A and 4 batteries+under hood battery, but his are D3100s and slightly beat out your kinetics. Not sure how his drop is though he said it holds alot more solid since the XS batteries I think it was. Even then, i'd feel plenty safe with an efficient 5k on that setup as long as you mind the voltage. You can probably get more than that, but im a fan of overkill when it comes to electrical. Really, you need to pick a setup first, then your subs, then the power to match the subs. Dont worry about everything all at once. You know you have 20-23ish cubes to play with. You know what kind of systems will fit there or can atleast figure it out. Read up on 4th orders, talk to ray about a design perhaps, but you need to pick your subs. Once your subs are picked, worry about power that will be a good match for what you're running. Keep in mind, you can always upgrade power later. -
snail shell enclosure for level 5's
tonedeaf replied to lzim1372's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
Correct, it was allegedly for an RE xxx 12" @ 15" in height. I have no idea about tuning because this is nothing like a regular ported box; it is, from what I understand, something to do with 1/4 wave(which im not sure how that is build to the woofer itself, as I understood it as being install dependant). 1/4 wave was a huge thing and surely still is in the SPL world, and less used in the daily world, but several VERY loud people still use it/build around it, damn over-achievers. Just a short version of it. ^^ -

Horns? Why horns, you can be plenty loud with a conventional flat wall with less space used than a horn iirc. Im a fan of simple over overly difficult with probably not much of a gain. I was also curious about the daily bandpass thing as well...what about not using a say 4th order daily vs a conventional flat wall? Not possibly at all...clearly they failed MISERABLY at the enclosure and probably didnt know how to tune it correctly. For example Ray has I think it is 12 12s in a 4th order wall doing a 157 at 30 hz that im sure can play all day. Lunchbox has 6 15s in a rear ported 6th order that does a 155 IIRC @ 31 hz and over a 150 at 17hz. Banpasses will play plenty fine if not better daily, they are more efficient using sealed and ported enclosure designs and have a wider range than a regular ported enclosure. Ray can design you one if you wanted for $20 that would knock your socks off. @ bandpass not good at daily groundpounding. Silly guy. -

What N8 and corona said. With say 20 cubes, you can do 4 15s, 3 18s, 10ish 12s, etc. Thats for a regular ported wall/ported clamshell. Also as said, thats a LOT of port area. You'll lose a lot of mechanical control/power handling with that much port. -
Boneyard Amps: Rockford Punch 150 repaired / tested
tonedeaf replied to meade916's topic in Amplifiers
Love those old plate amps. Had several old alpines a rockford and several coustics( ). Still have a few of the tiny ones hanging around. Always fun to play with them ever once in a while to see where technology has taken us. -

Yeah the apps are easy to use and convenient as hell. Easier yet if you can try to form some better sentences so we can understand you. -
snail shell enclosure for level 5's
tonedeaf replied to lzim1372's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
For those wondering wtf a snail shell enclosure is: is supposedly something like it. Heres a thread about them from 'way back when' from DIYaudio. Alot of the original people from this forum and A LOT of STUPID LOUD people were on their forums a few years ago. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofers/53794-official-snail-shell-thread.html -
Gonna Be One Loud Trunk
tonedeaf replied to MarioB's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
:clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: This for sure. Wall the bish! Although for real...room for two forward firing 15s and then some? I could barely make that fit building in my trunk...but GOD DAYAMN that would be a tight fit...would need alot of power with a limited box. -
So who can play low with authority ?
tonedeaf replied to ^_^ Gem132's topic in Tunez - All things music related
28hz isnt low imo. 26 and down is low. http://www.youtube.com/user/sexysexyman4?feature=mhee#p/u/3/Cqn24sF4dvs He does over a 150 @ 17hz IIRC. Heres his thread: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/102423-lunchs-charade-6x15s-18000rms/ -

Is this box going to be too small *updated box check it out*
tonedeaf replied to jeyrapboy's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Maybe its just because the only sealed boxes I've heard were either for 8s or were prefabs, but I have yet to hear a sealed box that "kills" lows. After ~32-35 it just gets muddy. Most people don't make the sealed box big enough. Bigger the sealed box the better the lows. Stuffing it with polyfill will help quite a bit. -
What size box? Bet you could do it with one sheet if its for that one 12 you had planned on. As for the wood, 5 ply doesn't seem to split on the ends as bad. If you get no discount at home depot, there's no reason to buy from there if you can get 5 ply at lowes or elsewhere for not much more.

5th grade, i was in the principals office and heard them talking about it. Went and told my teacher and that was the end of it. She left for a bit and they never told us about it. Apparently we weren't old enough to be told... I agree with fish, it was devastating and one of the main reasons for me heavily considering the military right now. I have the utmost respect for our troops and firefighters and everyone else who gave something that day.

That's at 49hz, tho. Fuck that shit. Exactly what I was thinking. Didn't know we were using the termlab for midbass. 40 and below is "on music".
