      Well then look in the for sale threads which are made to sell items for sale following the forums guidelines!

      If you dont want to see "stupid Facebook status updates" then click the minimize box so you dont see at all.

      If the above still does not satisfy you on the most user friendly options, then you can click the X which will close the whole side section and expand the forums to full monitor width.
