SPL varies dramatically, and while "flex" occurs from it; it really isn't a great gauge for it. You would really need to get a meter to get an accurate assessment. -
From what I have seen (heard) Rear / Rear is the best configuration for most Trunk based ported setups; unless you are going to be setting up a trunk wall and sealing the trunk from the cabin. I just did a design for Rear facing subs with the port going through the center armrest slot and the builder said he really likes the performance of the enclosure. But, he is trying to seal as much as he can....

New site to buy the SMD DD-1 and more!
PandorasCustoms replied to meade916's topic in SMD Distortion Detector (DD-1) Topics
Awesome... Glad to see the store is up. I wouldn't be surprised if you go on back-order for the DD-1 within the first few months. Once word gets out, sales should go through the roof. I know I should finally be getting mine within a few months. -
Yup, same take I have on this scenario. I know a lot of kids who put full Cold Air kit in their vehicles with factory manifolds and exhaust systems. Yeah, it gives it a little more "VROOOM", but the performance gain is about 1/4 of what it is if you did the same modification on a system with all aftermarket Exhaust components. Headers, High-Flow Cat and High-Flow Mufflers would make the whole setup run well... Edit: I got side tracked with the Intake. But, Throttle Body Spacers do work, although I think many manufacturers "Over estimate" the gains. I think actual horsepower is minimal, but response and torque go up. I did some work on a friends car. Lil' 3.2 V6 and it made a significant difference in his "Take-Off" time... But once you were on the move, it didn't feel any different.

Depends, most manufactirers list their recommended enclosure sizes after Woofer and Port dsiplacement. But, for all of my designs (Since I have yet to actually use the "manu. recomm."), I exclude it from the volumes in my calculations.

Gym Rant
PandorasCustoms replied to OBI's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
That is why I have a full system at home. The only person I can complain about is myself. -
Had a field mouse find a hole (or made it) in a brick wall in my old house. The house I was staying in was tiny, probably 500 sq'. My cat and I spent thirty minutes tearing the whole house apart... Couch flipped over, dressers drawers all ripped out, bed taken apart... Chasing the thing everywhere. After finally getting a hold of him, I had noticed that apparently it wasn't the first run-in he had with my cat. So, I let him go in a field a few blocks from my house and never had another problem since.

Fathers day surprises?
PandorasCustoms replied to jmilch's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
First father's day for me... I ended up with a nice grilling kit (Vegetable basket, Chicken Basket, some grill rubs and a new mitt).... And, a photo frame that says "Daddy's Little Monster"... -
Oh, I got it. But, you should be fine. Just take a few slices here and there to help sober up.

I have been at work all day. Welcome...

A friend of mine rooted his DroidX and hated it. Caused more problems than it was worth. He has an iOS look-a-like and it froze all the time. But, yes, Android is based off of a Linux Kernel. Thus, "ROOTING" is the term given to jail-breaking it. A ROOT user in Linux terms is the highest level of administrator. You especially need to be careful as a root user on a phone because you do have the capability to accidently delete portions of the phones OS.

Yeah, its kind of funny playing BlackOps. I play and get an average of 4-1 KTD in Domination games and peope get so pissed. I went 50-1 one game and got reported by the entire other team. I love walking into lobbies with welfare 15th prestigers. They get there rank from playing HOURS instead of playing well. Now, just to clear myself. I am not a hacker and have never considered it. I actually try to aovid map glitches too.

If you get this thing going, it would be an incredible little ~800 watts amplifier. Even if it isn't the final case, it looks slick. I love plain and simple looks. Flashy is nice for car shows, but I have aways preferred something to be effective instead of pretty. I am assuming this won't be .5 stable daily on music...correct?

That sounds hella good, what was the name of it? Honestly wished I remembered, I guess I could go back to the bar I got it from and find out. Just haven't been back there in a while. The only thing beneficial about a bad economy is my beer gut has slowly been going away...

I was just on their site yesterday and overlooked the SSD. I am considering picking up two 10" BL for a 160sq" IASCA build. If you get those SSDs let me know how they turn out.

I think one thing that is not being "overlooked" but understated... Not everyone on the street or every car audio enthusiast knows how to work an O-scope. I use one occasionally at work, but have never had the opportunity to use one in a car audio scenario. This tool will allow the hobbyist to afford a tool that will 1,000% help them keep from destroying their equipment, something they couldn't get before without going to a shop and having someone set it for them. I can't express how excited I am about this product and what it puts on the table. Now, just getting the wife to agree with the expense, and I will have on in my tool-bag right next to the DMM.
