4th order bandpass with passive radiators... can it be done
412 CVX replied to jbiddle.com's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
6th orders aren't just for SPL they can actually be very musical. I've got a 6th now and it's got excellent range. fucking love it. -
I'm lost ? It's not that difficult Let me know what brands of car audio lanyards you already have and I will send you some different ones free of charge. I have hundreds of them. I've got a DC lanyard on the way, I'd pay for shipping if you sent me a couple

I didn't read through the OP's post. Yeah, essentially that's a 6th order not a 4th. In order to be a 4th, you would build a sealed chamber to spec, and leave out the passive radiators from the SEALED side. then for the front chamber you'd put the passive radiators in to act like ports. -

The front chamber would have the ports/passive radiators, the rear chamber would still be sealed. -
Help w/box design for 1 15" z v.3 woofer
412 CVX replied to JR2011bu's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
I don't know what the deal is lately. there's been this obsession with tuning your box below 30 hz. I don't really see that as necessary. I think you'd be surprised at how much you can play below tuning -

Have you ever tried woofers facing the seats? -

OP have you already bought the sub? 15.5" would be cutting it very close for forward firing. unless you angled the face, i definitely wouldn't recommend upward firing it. It's gonna sound like shit (trust me i've tried). If you haven't bought the sub already, i'd suggest getting a pair of 12's. it would fit much better into the space you have. -

To be a 6th, the rear chamber has to be ported as well. I don't know what post you were referring to.. i didn't read the one right above yours lol -

I have no idea how you'd go about designing an enclosure with a passive radiator. I'd be interested in learning more though. -

The ONLY reason you changed that is because it was suggested that he do that instead... -

When you've done hundreds of design you start to be able to visualize just from the numbers lol. -

This is why you draw your enclosures out before you build them. -
