Thought i would share this build i have been working on. this is the first test run literally the first time this car has been tested and it still have the stock HU (switching it out this week for him) gonna make some small changes and see what happens but check it out:

i just recently swtiched out a P.A. 2400 watt max amp (it was at 2 ohm per channel) and his voltage drop hit 11.8 for a DC Audio 2.0k (at 1 ohm) and the voltage drop went up to 12.9 and the subs increases by 5 DB that is from 14.4 starting and on some shitty subs in a shitty box until i have time to built him a new box for his 4 DC 8s moral of the story is the good amps arent that much more money, are a thousand times more efficient (even at lower ohms), sound a million times better and are far easier on your equipment.

i used to have 4 15s dc XLs and my box ended up at 12.9 after displacements and i think 17.6ish before displacements so that can give you can idea that 4 15s probably wont fit. depending on the subs you pic 4 12s will probably be plenty loud or if you spent the money you planned on spending on 4 15s on 2 15s it would be real loud too. its all about quality of the equipment not quantity

But the 9k s are much harder to get. They all usually sell before they ever arrive. One thing that will make the 12k better than the 9k in my opinion, is running on a 14v system that is set to charge at 15.9v. I have not clamped mine yet, but I am fully confident that I am getting somewhere around 15000w from it with no voltage drop. i couldnt agree with you more lol i have 12ks and at the time could have gotten either one cause when i got mine they had both. and a agree on the power they are putting out also lol just saying the 9k wouldnt be a bad option thats all if you are worried about about ohm load ya get the 12k though you could wire a 9k to .5 also its wouldnt be an issue if you have the electical to back it up ill be running my 12ks at .33 for now until i get there other one lol then itll change again

Hey man just as a side note for you so maybe you can open your horizon the 12ks and 9ks will make about the same power and the 9ks will put up better numbers by a few tenths normally. just letting you know

lol well ya without a doubt 1000 but its got to be clean and in the right box if you do not know what your doing when it comes to box tuning or amp tuning DO NOT or you will be getting a recone lol

its not hard at all heat it up and bend it outwards with some gloves then i moved it to the ground and it would bend it out pretty good I did this one its not a crazy flair but it worked really well

lol i know right and thats only one sub lol i considered 4 neo 18s in there instead of the 6 15s but then i just had to go back to the tried and true XLs and save money lol

the way i see it it depends on how much room you have and how your box is laid out...because depending on the box shape it may be hard to get a port thats long enough without a million turns in it (so it doesnt get too muddy on you) while keeping you port area large enough to move some air you know?

the maxxlink does like 10 volts pre out and going to that many amps that will be plenty the HU in there doesnt do many volts at all so when thats sent to that many amps its hard for the amps thus getting more signal to the amps will be some sort of gain even at 160 yes less than it wouldnt be to a 140 system but a gain is a gain and every tenth counts if you ask me just my .02
