  1. That's lame. That's why I prefer eBay to forums since they have buyer protection, forced refunds, and a good feedback system. How did you figure out they were lvl 3's? Did he just admit it?
  2. You must mean the P3300BT, or the P3200BT.. Because I checked both sites (and Pioneer) and didn't see a P3300DVD. Or did you mean P4300DVD? And it seems that Audio Savings is giving the $50 discount in lieu of the missing kit. Did you already make a decision? Of course it would make more sense to get 8 bands, instead of 7. But at the same time, if you're going to add a processor in the future, depending on which one you get, the in-dash EQ might not even matter. I was in a similar position a few weeks ago. I was choosing between the P6300BT, or the P5200BT. After I found out, as you did, that they are essentially the same unit, with Pandora (something I don't use) added to the P6300BT, I went with the P5200. Then I decided that I already have a bluetooth earpiece, so why waste money on a bluetooth mic in my car? So I scoured the internet for a P5200DVD, but came across a P5200BT on craigslist for $300. Moral of the story; used is just as good as new (you're aware of the brand new P3200bts starting at $329 on Amazon, right? and used-like new P3300bts starting at $299), and if you don't need bluetooth or navigation, don't waste the dough. For a double din, if you don't need the bluetooth, I'd personally go with the P4300DVD. I don't like the DVD slot on the front of the unit. It looks more classy when it's hidden behind the screen.
  3. Get a faster flash drive. I use a 32gb Corsair Flash Voyager GTR. It's one of the fastest on the market. But there are faster ones that cost more mula, of course. That was one of the reasons I got rid of my CDA-117. Not because it was slow itself, but because after I started navigating my ipod on my friend's AVH-P4300DVD, I got hooked to being able to search alphabetically, and with a bigger screen. Anyway, I noticed with my CDA-117, that my ipod was a lot faster than hard drives or transflash cards. So that let me know that it isn't necessarily the head unit that's slow, but the media you connect to it. That is, Alpine specifically designed that head unit for ipods, so you're better off getting an ipod.
  4. "Group" is simply the size of the battery. Group 31 batteries are larger than Group 34's. The length of the battery is usually the deciding factor (in the cases I've seen), with Group 31 batteries measuring around 13 inches long and Group 34 batteries measuring around 10.5 inches long. You have to measure your current battery and battery compartment to see what you can fit. Most websites give the dimensions of their batteries. Focal Utopia Be retail for $5000. My friends have told me that Selenium speakers get loud and sound good. I've never heard Hybrid Audio, and I've never heard of Oxygen Audio. Maybe TeamHT or someone else can help you with that. As for my suggestion, I'm like you in that, I prefer not to have the same thing as everyone else. But at the same time, you were running Hertz Dieci, which I believe is the lowest line of speakers they offer. I personally like the Hi-Energy and Mille series.
  5. Use an AGM battery. I don't know if you can fit a group 31 in the front, but I have a group 34 under my hood. As for different brand speakers, I've personally only heard all the mainstream stuff. I've also heard Focal KRX3, and Utopia Be, but I'm sure you don't want to spend that much. However, I've heard good things about Selenium loudspeakers, Morel, and Hybrid Audio.
  6. I use XS Power batteries, but there's also Kinetik, Optima, Deka, Stinger, Shuriken, etc. It's your choice, and it depends on what you can fit. DC has a good 2000 watt amp. I used to use Infinity for speakers, but now I use Audison/Hertz. Depends on what you're looking for.
  7. There's probably more money and more demand for auto repair. But if you're not in it for the dough, collision would be cool, especially if you want to go into custom designs.
  8. Have you done big 3? What type of alternator do you have? And what type of batteries? If you have stock electrical, or didn't do any electrical upgrades when adding the second amp, then you wont hear that much of a difference.
  9. Why don't you just get a refund and purchase from a different seller? There's like 8 different HCCAs on eBay.
  10. You don't have to fuse between alternator and battery, but as you can see, some people do. I don't. And you could Big 3 in advance and add the fuse block later.
  11. How's your electrical? If you want to upgrade to 2000 watts, you should do a big 3 wiring upgrade and look into a better battery; that is, if you're still using your stock battery. You don't necessarily have to get 2 amps and 2 subs for a 2000 watt system. You could do a single 2000 watt amp setup. but it's your choice. DC makes great equipment.
  12. I don't understand what you're saying. Is the unit turning off and resetting? Or is the unit staying on while the speakers simply cut in and out?
  13. I like those. I think the full face look is more classy for cars like mine. I was looking at these; they look similar:
  14. You can get it brand new from Summit Racing for $260 shipped.
  15. You can check the voltage of the alternator if you can start the car. With the engine running, set your digital multimeter to direct current (DC) (might be a 'V' with a straight line and a 20 or 200 above it) , and touch the probes to the positive and negative posts of the battery to see if it reads 14.4v.
  16. Of course it can be fixed. Take it to an alternator shop and see how much it will cost to repair. Shop around for the best price. Send it back to the seller if you can..
  17. @Beatbox, it would help if you told him where you bought your alternator..
  18. Did you really expect to find mass produced 300A alternators for a 2 liter engine? Call Mechman (865-522-6166) and DC Power (951-509-5617) and see what they can make for you. And no, higher amperage does not put more stress on an engine. In terms of dual alternators, anything is possible when dough is abundant.
  19. Yeah, you can click "Find My Content," but it would still be a pain to find older and specific threads if you've made numerous posts.
