  1. I always figured a big enough capacitor or bank would help, people wouldn't use them in competitions for no reason. Very cool test and very cool equipment, keep up the good work maybe someday I'll be able to afford all of your tools.
  2. Time for a new soldering iron. Can't believe my Weller finally died, then again, only something that costs $11 will last so long.

Definitely get order the station. It's like having an extra set of hands, plus you'll get another cheap-o iron out of it as well.

  8. Dragster DA702s on eBay this is the best $80 you will ever spend on an amp, I promise. I got one for $65 best offer, thinking of picking up another. http://www.ebay.com/itm/220986650810?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Unfortunately not, you will have to do some multilingual searching. I think the x-over is just regular hi/low pass 50-500Hz. I wouldn't recommend using the built-in x-over on any amp they are noisy and shitty for the most part.

He definitely acts like a douche because he can, he admits that much. Pretty much always willing to tell you that he is the best and if you go somewhere else it will be a hack-job because they aren't him.

a Zapco Ref 1000.4 (grey one) and an Alpine 1505. The Zap was treated to a new preamp IC for channels 1+2 and the Alpine got some new RCA jacks.

  16. I still have a few old books about computer service and repair (all at least pre-Windows XP). Interesting to see how little has changed but yet how much, all of the same parts are there but the I/O and specs have gone nuts!
  17. Both of my amps are in for repair. No Music. I'm going to cry.

Absolutely Bigsix! I hope they can fix you up. I wasn't worried about them working on my stuff after talking to Henry and seeing how knowledgeable he is. Every time I am in there I learn something new from him.

Raptorman I have a Galaxy S3 so the speaker is on the back of the phone. My phone has been living face down on the dash :)

  18. Learned me something today: old resistors sound better than new ones. After a long time, resistors finish their aging process meaning their parameters no longer change. This leads to a cleaner sound, surely something a lot of "old school" equipment benefits from since almost all electronics contain resistors. Some new high-end equipment is made with resistors "aged" in an oven creating the effect of hundreds of years of use!

  19. I love the sound of Motorola transistors

  20. Wrapping up my bit on amplifiers today, then it is time to get working on "8ight's Slopey Sinewaves: a quick reference for understanding audio signals!"

  21. It is now day three with no shipping invoice and no service from the guy on feebay I ordered some stuff from, I asked that my order be cancelled because had it been sent on time with the free ground post it would be here the same day as the expensive airmail I've been trying to pay for. Fuck that.
