  1. Well, they came back in stock at sonic a few days ago but they were supposed to email me about it, only that was a few days late. But thanks for all the other suggestions.
  2. If only it didnt cost so much to ship to Canada I'd order up a shirt and hoodie.
  3. I need to snag a d3400 but the only two places that I know of are out of stock. (Sonic + SSA) Anybody know of another internet dealer that stocks Xs Power?
  4. Okay. Would it be okay to use a 12v relay as opposed to just tapping into a turn on source?
  5. Decided to test the new alternators I got a few weeks ago. Dual setup so one unit has the stock plug (2 PIN) and the secondary has the 4 PIN. The 4 PIN plug Mechman provided only has a turn-on wire (yellow). So I was going to wire up a relay for it but... Shouldn't there be a field wire to attach to the output stud or something? How is the second alternator regulated then?
  6. Excellent. The Diamond in the Mud was realy good, so this should be just as good if not better.
  7. Ah just JB weld a terminal on her bud... But seriously, helicoils are really good. If the threads are still pretty good a helicoil will hold just as strong as the original threads. I used a helicoil on my sled's primary clutch main spring cup...holds a 300lb spring @ 8600rpm.
  8. The amperage readings are not 100% accurate. The clamp is set on peak hold. So it reads the entire time the test is being run. The Dyno stops reading at clipping. The amp may still be putting out power into clipping and the clamp still reading current being drawn, but the dyno has stopped reading power at the point the clipping occurs. The only way to get a 100% accurate reading would to have a dcA clamp built into the dyno pulling that reading at the same exact time as it is pulling the rest of its readings. I would be willing to send my dyno back to D'Amore to be modded if something like this were ever able to be done. Wonder If it pulls the same or less on a dynamic run? The pure sine wave is definitely a lot of work for it.
  9. Actually the amount of current that it sucked seems really high. Why 400a? Isn't it supposed to be fused for 300a?
  10. Nice, only problem is that Sky High 1/0 is bigger than 1/0. Which is a good thing.
  11. Mechman alternators came in today, one more item off the list for the re-build this spring.

    1. Soccerballzs

      Soccerballzs

You will love it! Got 320 amp here.

  12. I figured I'd support SMD today...been here for almost two years and enjoy the forums everyday.

  13. Had some guy in his big ass truck park right beside me like he owned the lot. I managed to get out without hitting his truck but long story short : I took one of his valve stems out, put it on a note on his hood telling him that I think he needs to learn how to park. Maybe not the nicest thing to do but sometime people need to check thier heads.
  14. List: #1 The kids who see your system and start telling fariytales about their friend's, dad's, uncle's system that defys basic sound physics. ie 220db #2 People asking you about good stuff to buy for under $100...no, this is not possible in car audio. #3 The shitty wiring kits from Walmart. #4 Trunks that rattle so loud, you think the guy was taking a jackhammer to his trunk. #5 10s are punchy, 12s are boomy...no. (what are 15s then?18s?) #6 People not understandingthe basics on how amplifiers work. #7 Ear-o-meters....uuuh yeah that a 190db at least bro. #8 Going to tweak my amplifiers and OH SHIT I JUST RE-WIRED EVERYTHING. opps. #9 Having to take it all out for winter. #10 When some one asks to "Play this song man" *plugges in their ipod* and its horrid qualtiy and its clipping.
  15. probably the best explanation of kicker ive ever heard Well, everyone knows that a single CVR 12 can blow out windows...I mean, my friend's, dad's, uncle did it.
  16. The Rockford is probably a more efficient amplifier. Though you should probably upgrade your electrical if you haven't, something as simple as a deep cycle under the hood is a good start. You might try building your own enclosure? It could be a bit cheaper (depending on the price of prefab) and will definitely sound better if you build it to the drivers specs. Kicker isn't garbage, its just been overrated by uneducated teenage pricks who think they are the kings of car audio at school.
  17. So "individual pre-orders" are those who ordered during the pre-order sale in April? Stoked either way but if UPS shows up at my door with a brokerage fee...
  18. If the t/s parameters are as close as the listed ones per driver...25hz, maybe lower. Depends on how much volume is in your enclosure, what kind of performance you want, how much power you have, your vehicles airspace, location of the enclosure, blah blah blah. Enclosure building is full of little things that some people overlook. If you take your time (and wait until you have the drivers), build it right and you'll be impressed with the result. I know you have the enclosure build already but it seems like you're rushing...I'm just sayin' Not hatin' just reflecting on my past experience.
