  1. In my opinion, most hondas are over priced, at least around here. Any import that is a candidate for some kind of build (240sx, civic, CRX, etc.). The really funny thing is when I see people paying $20k plus for 93 RX-7s and MK IV supras etc. The really tough thing for a CRX is that the builders want them and the audio guys do too. Demand. You can still find one for a decent price you just have to search and be patient. I am having to take my own advice right now. I have been looking for a 1st generation DSM for awhile now. It will pay off when I own that special eclipse, talon or laser. I would recommend that you look for the same, but you are going to run into a lot of incorrectly/incompletely modded and unreliable cars. People usually want to much for them as well. Now, if you go for a non-turbo model you have a lot better chance of getting a cheap 4 banger and for their age their style still doesn't look out of date.
  2. I usually avoid seeing movies in the theater and Will Smith movies rarely appeal to me. This one really has me intrigued.
  3. Oh, and I'll post up pics of my Christmas bonus/present that I give to myself as soon as I get it.
  4. Residential sparky! Cool. I used to do resi work, but I am shifty, so I moved on to commercial, then service, and currently, I am the purchasing agent for the company. I'm about to hit the 11 year mark there. Time flies. How long you been slingin romex? Its a good trade to be in no doubt. We don't get into many resi projects though. We only have a few home builders. The ones that we have are are insane though. I think the smallest job we are doing in resi is a remodel to one of the TX Rangers' house. Sorry, kind of off topic. Bonus wise...it really has varied for me. We really don't see much at Xmas, but the boss likes to just hand out unscheduled bonuses. Its kind of like he wants to be fair and equal at Christmas so $1000-2000. During the whole year though when you are doing good, he just walks up and hands you an envelope with a check. Those have ranged pretty high as well. It got a lot better when I started working purchasing. When you swing a good price that saves a good chunk, the boss doesn't mind sharing. Edit to add this: Oh, and UPS wouldn't be able to afford a thing if they were forced to pay for all the stuff that they destroyed. I know anyone here that had a box full of junk that used to be an amp or a sub delivered to their door knows how I feel.
  5. Sorry for the adder, but I feel that I need to clear one thing up. I do not mean to offend any ATA or WTF people specifically. I have met some that I feel are excellent martial artists. I make my negative comments because in my opinion, those organizations and their affiliates sell a watered down version of a truly devistating martial art. If you pay the money, you can get a black belt in a 2-4 yrs regardless of skill. That is like pulling an empty gun on someone. Sorry for the thread jack on that one. I'm done.
  6. Thank God you are talking about a cruise, otherwise we would all be in debt. Ok, the real bit I wanted to add was this: My first time in Las Vegas, we walk into our hotel and attempt to find the front desk (that is really a tough act sometimes). My older sister who is a very seasoned traveler is approached by a man in a suit, wearing a name tag who spouts off something like "Welcome to the Stratosphere! Come this way so we can get you all your free gifts..." He was not able to finish his pitch because he was foolish enough to put his hand on her shoulder. In addition to traveling often, my sister put herself through law school by teaching Tae Kwon Do, not the WTF or ATA junk, but chung do kwan. He was instead helped to a one way trip to the ground. When it was clear that we would not be dealing with legal ramifications, I asked her about it, and she explained that people like him did not work at the hotel/casino, that they were time/share salesman. I spent the rest of the trip seeing these freaks and avoiding them The next trip, while beating on them would probably be more fun, since it would bring trouble, I changed to another tactic. When approached by any salespersons, my response was "no speaky english!" I was left alone very quickly after that. Sorry, kind of off, but kind of on topic.
  7. I hit higher SPL with my Diamond 12's on 2 JL 1000/1s than I did with 2 RE SX 15's on 2 Rockford T30001bds. Same vehicle. Same electrical system. Same everything except amps and subs. 150.6db vs. 149.7db We pulled a 149.3db on 2 Diamond D3 12's in the trunk of our Charger. (done on one T3K) I also pulled 153.2db on 2 AQ HD3 15's on 2 RF T30001bds. Very similar to the RE setup. My point, I wouldn't say Diamond is the best, but I would disagree with saying they suck. Coy Roberts (I hope I am spelling and remembering the name correctly) from Diamond Audio was one of the most helpful people that I have ever dealt with when designing the system with the Diamonds. I have rarely had anywhere near the customer support and general helpfulness anywhere else.
  8. Hey, thanks for the link. I have really been trying to get a source and price in mind.
  9. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what 1/4" x 2" aluminum bus bars go for by the foot? or inch? or however they are sold? Can anyone tell me where they buy theirs?
  10. I can't answer everything, but I will say this: RF T20001BD good amp, good power. I don't know if the subs will handle it or they will need more. I don't know the subs well. I would recommend the 1/0 for sure. Additionally, a big 3 wiring upgrade and scrap the idea of a capacitor. I would instead recommend looking into an additional battery. You can probably survive without, but I would just recommend it. Kinetik has some pretty nice batteries. They have one that they particularly note as a "cap killer" or something similar.
  11. Christmas shopping = very difficult. I hate the crowds. That being said, we are actually pretty much done w/ Christmas shopping. Now, I'm hoping to be able to come up with my gift to myself in time. I don't think it's going to happen. I'm looking for a specific eclipse/talon/laser.
  12. My dog and I bet most others can't hold a candle to my Mother's two yorkies. Those two little $---$ fart so bad they clear out mice and roaches.
  13. Quite possibly. I mean, I don't know if there was any relation to the scammers or not. It just doesn't make sense. If you were trying to sell something that wouldn't sell, and then a buyer shows up with cash, that you made arrangements with, why "stand him up" and send out rude line? Hell, he worked at Sonic, the car for sale was in a bay, he could have talked to me through the damn intercom if he really couldn't come out.
  14. In addition to being a basshead, I am somewhat of a speedhead too. The two obviously don't go hand in hand. I have been feeding the bass craving only and have been experiencing massively "jonesing" on the other side. I decided that I can indulge both. With this being said, I have been searching for a new project car to build for speed. My criteria is somewhat strict. I'm looking for a DSM, particularly a 90-94 Eclipse GSX, Talon TSI AWD, or 92-94 Laser RS AWD. The search brought me to some craigslist ads. I corresponded with a seller for about a week through email, then a couple of days on the phone. We made arrangements for me to meet him at 6:30-7:00pm at his place of business (Sonic) where he was scheduled to work until 6:00pm. He said that he would be off work by then and would wait. He also told me that if I was early, it didn't matter. He would be able to come out and show me the car anyway. So, I depart after I get done with work yesterday. I drive what should be about 45 minutes worth of drive and find that he gave me wrong directions. I find my way to the sonic despite that and the fact that he did not answer his cell phone. I show up, the car is there with the for sale sign and in the spot he said it would be. I looked the car over and waited for the opportunity to make contact. Finally a waitress comes over. I ask her for the guy by name. She looks puzzled and says I don't think anyone by that name works here. I ask her to tell the guy that owns the car that I am there to see his car. She returns and tells me, "yeah, that is the guy you were talking about and he is here, but he said he is working so he won't come out and that you are just SOL." Before considering my situation better, my anger got the best of me and I gave her a message to tell him. Apparantly, he wasn't interested because he never came out and she didn't either. After about five minutes waiting (and he never came to the windows or anything), I had taken the time to realize that I was in a small town at a Sonic that seemed to be the place to be because there were people hanging out everywhere, and I'm sure everyone noticed the car I was in. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...8&hl=cmrs2k Then, this guy had phone calls from me and too me on his phone and the waitress knew I was there over the car. There would be no problem at all getting me put into jail. Once logic settled in, I left. I get home and log on to a local DSM forum. The first new topic is a warning, linking to a Dalls Mustang forum, telling about how a guy went to buy a car off Craigslist and was jumped and robbed for $3600. As I read on, I found out that they (the forum) figured out who it was and the guys who did it were caught. Just a strange coincidence probably, but I did spend a bit of time wondering. Summed up this consisted of: My story of idiot who wants to sell car and then chooses to be an A$$. Funny thing is, I brought cash, I was going to buy the car. The car that has been for sale for months and he keeps throwing up new ads talking about how bad he needs to sell. Be careful in those situations, it probably isn't wise to go alone and carry that much cash like I was.
  15. Sounds nice. Did you get the turbo in a kit, or is it a buy and piece together kind of situation? What are you using for your fuel system and controlling it?
  16. He would have had to go through quite a bit of an ordeal to silence the sounds of the turbos spooling up. I don't know of very many people who would want to do that. I thought about it, but I could never come up with a way to keep them quiet without sacraficing performance.
  17. Beat him just to beat him, I'm not saying that. However, most people are willing to admit that they would, or that they support someone else doing that. What I am saying is beside that. I am saying that I feel like the police should have layed it down on him full force to stop/subdue him. If he gets beaten completely senseless to get him to quit fighting and take him into custody, then that is what it takes. You can't take a chance with that type of criminal. Now, once they have him in custody and any threat that he poses is neutralized, they shouldn't beat him. Once again, I'm pretty sure that most people would beat on him once in custody, if not, I bet they really have to restrain themselves not to.
  18. Alright, now I don't support the police beating people or using excessive force. With that being said, I really do not fee that this was excessive. A man, being questioned for murder (already a potentially dangerous person) swipes a cops gun and kills him, in a police building. I see no other classification to give this man other than extremely dangerous. When the cops do catch him, I don't think that they should do anything less than take him with their safety in mind and that of their fellow officers as well as any other person that might be nearby. Do you think that after he was willing to grab a cop's gun and shoot him in the face, while already in custody (there is no real chance of a clean escape here, they know who he is), that he will just put his hands up and surrender. This man does not care about right or wrong and he probably still had the gun. So, what should the police do, ask him to put his hands up and surrender? Take him down, with whatever method necessary. Did they beat him beyond that? Whip him after they had him secured? I do not know, there was no way to know from the video. Let us all remember that in his escape, I believe that they said he jumped out of a third story window, or tried to. Perhaps some of his injuries came from that.
  19. possibly try higher tuning? SPL goals only, probably not a good idea for daily listening.
  20. Sorry, but the subs are currently pending sale. Thank you for your interest.
  21. Nice purchase. If I remember right, that listing said no remote, right? If that is the case and you can get one, get it. I have never tried my amps without (I'm really lazy, all I would have to do is unplug it), but I'm told that you the amps do not operate to full capacity without one. I do not know if that is correct or not. I'm sure that someone here can confirm or deny?
  22. I had trouble watching past about a minute, but damn, your title is exactly right.
  23. Nothing like spending your vacation working. Have fun.
