Baydestrian Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Look at HDorre's sig and he has a Meade quote, that quote was directed at me in the "Like Us" thread because I said its not that loud. The DB Level of that track is low, anything can be loud when it peaks in your area and you are pushing a lot of power....I'm only pushing 500rms so tracks need to have at least 14-15db to be enough for my taste. 2015 Mazda 6 JVF Customz 4.0 Proto 15>Wolfram W4500 @ .5ohm 2 Sundown Neo 6.5 + 2 CT Meso Tweeters (Front) x Kicker KS6.5 (Rear)>JL Audio VX400/4i NSB-AMG35 (front) / 40ah Lithium Headway (Rear) built by Erni Audio & Electrical
mattwilliams676 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 I think what I will do is make a vid of the song and see how hard it slams.
meade916 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 You really scrutinize a song through a program to see how loud its going to be? I put on ipod. press play. song sucks I change it. I didnt realize it was this important to prep! Ive been doing it wrong this whole time. i was thinking the same thing. I play it and if i dont like it i dont play it anymore. Analyzing it on a computer and deciding it doesnt slam when you dont even have a system is the dumbest thing i have read in a long time. Doesnt slam for me either, but I tune low.. 30hz I am tuned to 30hz also. Look at HDorre's sig and he has a Meade quote, that quote was directed at me in the "Like Us" thread because I said its not that loud. If the song wasnt recorded with a high enough db for your taste, why dont you just turn the bass up on your deck a little? You only have 500 watts, what kind of miracle are you expecting? Not that only having 500w is bad but here is the deal, out of the only 2 people complaining, 1 has no system and the other has a small system. meade916 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 also keep in mind that what slams on one persons system doesnt always slam on another persons.... we all have different equipment, different power available, different tuning, and different idea's of what sounds good. Just because a song doesnt hit hard in your car (or bedroom) doesnt mean it dont hit hard in someone elses. SPLadd1ct Posted March 10, 2011 Author Report Posted March 10, 2011 also keep in mind that what slams on one persons system doesnt always slam on another persons.... we all have different equipment, different power available, different tuning, and different idea's of what sounds good. Just because a song doesnt hit hard in your car (or bedroom) doesnt mean it dont hit hard in someone elses. I totally named this thread wrong. I should have named it "Why does "Like Us" Slam?" I associated songs that peak at 20ish dB with songs that have the potential for very loud bass. For example all of decaf's and bigpimpin's bass songs peak in the 20 dB range. I was checking out your videos, one of "Turn it up" and one of "Like Us". They looked to slam equally as hard in your system. Except "Turn it Up" peaks at 21 dB I believe and "Like Us" peaks at 11 dB. I just didn't understand why "Like Us" slammed so hard in peoples systems. I apologize for the misunderstanding, it was my fault for using the wrong choice of words 2011 Ford Ranger Sport 4.0 v6 2 sundown audio prototype nsv4 15s crossfire 4k wired to 0.4 ohm 15 banks of maxwell 3.0 caps @ 18v triple alts (x2 us alt 250's, x1 singer 320) 153 at 23hz

Decaf Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 when using audacity think of a song like an equation; the sum of all parts can only add up to 30 (aka 0db) so if you were to compare the song "Like Us" to a sine wave it would be a -20/-19db sine wave @whatever frequency, which is pretty quiet. a song that reads 23db on the plot spectrum would be analagous with a -7db sine wave, which is pretty loud so this brings up a small point about what db level sine wave u should use when setting gains. obviously the lower the db level on the plot spectrum the quieter the song, thus u could use a -5db or -10db sine wave. there are plenty of songs i have posted/and songs available on cds that are 25-28db on the plot spectrum when u get down to a 1/2second. which means if u used a -3db sine wave and played a track like bass mekaniks which does go to 28db, u run the chance of clipping the signal simply by playing a song that is louder than the sine wave used so that db level from 0-30 does indicate how loud one song is compared to another, regardless of frequency, this is just about signal strength make sense?
KipCan'tBass Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Im tuned to 33hz. I'll have to download the song and give it a try.
Baydestrian Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 The whole thing is that db level of the song is low so on systems with not a lot of power its not as loud. End of story. Wouldn't mind stepping up to more power but why do that for a few songs when there's a million other songs that are loud on my system. 2015 Mazda 6 JVF Customz 4.0 Proto 15>Wolfram W4500 @ .5ohm 2 Sundown Neo 6.5 + 2 CT Meso Tweeters (Front) x Kicker KS6.5 (Rear)>JL Audio VX400/4i NSB-AMG35 (front) / 40ah Lithium Headway (Rear) built by Erni Audio & Electrical
