boomer i think he's saying that port area alone doesn't mean it'll play a certain way no matter how you put it. if you have a port that's 3" x 33" (1:11 ratio), it'll play a flatter bandwidth response than the same box, with the same port area but with dimensions more like 6" x 16.5" (1:3 ratio). the 1:3 ratio will have a peaky response.

that i did not know. very useful information in this thread. i hope it gets stickied.

On BP, ported, both? I just went back and looked at my port as I never knew anything about ratios and mines a 1:2 but sounds fine across a good frequency range to me, and I do agree some music (I think it's the music) will sound quiet in the bass department but it otherwise has good output :shrug:

IN going over that database, you see almost all of the A.I built cars tend to peak below 45hz..even cars that you wouldnt necessarily expect to peak below 45

I try to keep it around 40

Thats where the majority of regular bass is at.

Playing down to 30 is fine, but not alot of "radio style" tracks down there
