I've seen some really bad ones, smaller housings aren't as bad. You really want projector housings to direct the light where it should be. Thats why they have a disclaimer about off road use only on most of them. I have them. I know alot of people who do. I hate people with HID's in stock housing because 99% of the time they're still blinding, even if they don't get flashed to let them know. That's why people buy projectors since it won't spread the light and it's courteous to other drivers on the road. And as Nate said, it is illegal, it would just depend on the cop who pulled you over. He could cite you for tint (if applicable) and illegal lighting if he really wanted to, but some don't care as much as others. If I were an officer and got blinded by HID's in a stock housing, I'd be writing a ticket as it is a hazard to others. Call me a dick if you want, but that's how I would go about it, but if they weren't blinding and scattered, I wouldn't even worry about it since it won't affect other drivers. Have had them in for a year or two now, never been flashed once. however, the car is low, and they are adjusted right. I find that trucks that are lifted provide a bigger issue for blinding me, but that's just the way it is. I will also say though, there is some kid with 55w hid's for both fogs and headlights, and it's the shittiest ever. It blinds the fuch out of you, be it on coming, or in back..... But I had a ballast out (fuck the bullshit ddm lifetime warranty btw, but they're cheap enough to replace) and got pulled over for having a headlight out. The cop didn't say anything about them being hid's or give me any hassle, but just a warning to get it fixed.
