I'm sure mecham knew what they were doing and can take the blame for it instead of blaming the guy for doing what he was supposed to do previously known as wenn_du_weinst aka fucking internet coward supreme. The car show isnt going on on public streets. they got pulled on public streets. not at a car show. The officer was doing his job. thats all. We didn't take out the stock stereo, in fact we never even took a door panel off. We used a separate head unit on a snake like you would put in a podium, and wired everything completely separate of the vehicle. To utilize the stock bose system, we used the aux output from our unit to the aux input to the stock head unit. (not that you could hear the stock speakers over the bullets, LOL) We had the whole thing stripped down and back to stock by Monday afternoon. Quiet Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Most noise ordinance laws target specifically "car stereos" and are used as reasons to pull people over in the hopes of catching larger offenses like drugs, weapons, etc. The laws put thug gang bangers and us in the same boat. I used to live in Florida and just before I left, the "car stereo noise ordinance" changed from "can hear clearly from 100 feet away" to "25 feet away". I can hear the stock radio from my dad's old Vega from 25 feet away. It's a law, and a penalty. Here, it's a revenue generator. These guys didn't hurt anybody. Most people find loud exaust on a Harley Davidson just as annoying, but you can't give a ticket for that. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.

I don't know how many straight pipe Hardly-Movinsons I heard drive by while we were pulled over, but THAT is perfectly OK. It's a cash-cow, plain and simple. Not sure why the money that we as car audio competitors bring into the Daytona community isn't as good as the money that Bikers brought in during bike week the week before...
