Audique HDC3 ?

Recommended Posts

For you guys running HDC3 series subwoofers, what are the benefits and cons of going aluminum coils over the standard copper coils? Will the copper coils handle 2200RMS daily on music or would it just be wiser to go with the aluminum coils?

Aluminum coil will handle more power IIRC.

From what I've seen, if you keep the power clean, the copper coil will handle that power daily just fine.

Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks :)

Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.

Aluminum coils give you better power handling, copper gives you better SQ(who needs SQ at 2000+rms), as long as you pay attention you shouldn't have any problem running 2200 amp power to the copper coils(since due to various factors that 2200rms wont be sent to the sub very often)

Edit: This is from exp. running a 10" HDC3 on an AQ2200.

The Alum coils will handle more power but thats more used for competition.. if its for a daily driver setup go with the copper. Ive ran a hdc3 18 on 2200 and 2 18s on 2 2200s strapped. they can handle it all day

Aluminum can handle more power but it also is less effecient, so it loses more in the process.

So since I don't compete would it be better to just go with the copper coils then?

Yeah either way I'd go copper man! Way cheaper and better for daily. Go look at the "tech support" on their site dude and it explains the difference well. It also says that for %90 of the installs copper is the way to go.
