toadking90
That. Amps all run different. A 4ohm off my amp is only 800 I think. 1 ohm is 1700. If I pull speaker wire out ohms are gone. Or is the thing just that cook and doesn't need those to detect distortion?

tonedeaf
What n8 said. Plug it in as per the directions, set without clipping, you're done. It doesn't matter what impedance your amp is at, gain has nothing to do with ohms. It is about matching up to the voltage of your preouts from your headunit. The dd1 just let's you set it as high as it will go without distortion. Ohms is an entirely different unrelated conversation.

ryan916
But what about this, lets say i have a pair of components rated at 150rms and my amp puts out 200 rms at 4 ohm. Is the dd the wrong tool for this situation?
SixTwoRado
I was curious about this too with my small lack of audio knowledge. I know how ohms can affect the system, but I too was also trying to figure out if ohms would affect setting the gains with the DD-1. I was worried cause I have my pdx amp which runs at 2 or 4 ohms. Looks like you guys answered my question though. I just can't wait to get my DD-1.

armykyle1
It wasn't a dumb question. I had the same one, I just researched it a little. My concern was running lower ohm loads, losing efficiency and possibly going into clipping. But the gain on your amp is amplifing the signal coming in so as long its not set to high you shouldn't clip even running extremely low ohm loads. Is the dd the wrong tool for this situation? Set I with the DD-1 then turn your gain down from there.
