ConorMcGee
ok so i have a jvc headunit, a power acoustic eq and a power acoustic mids and highs amp. my speakers will be working fine and dandy until i turn them up at which point they all make this terrible grinding static awful noise i dont think the speakers are blow because they are running under their rms rating could this be the result of an effed up headunit? Joe X
Disconnect the RCAs from the amp and if the noise stops then the problem is with the head unit.

Sanitarium
Disconnect the RCAs from the amp and if the noise stops then the problem is with the head unit. lol X2, I love this response. He said it doesn't start doing it till he turns the volume up past a certain point. Unhooking the rca wires will prove nothing. OP, trace it down. Find a different source (someone else's headunit, a home audio reciever with an extension cord, etc) to hook directly up to the amp and try again. Go from there. CleanSierra
Read the post Sani, it just says to unplug the RCAs and if the noise goes away it's the HU. The reason I said I loved it, was because there was NO mention of RE-connecting the RCAs. So obviously no noise will come through with zero RCA's connected.
