this motor was originally a 2512. sent it back for a recone. and I go tit supercharged and everything. the surround didn't seem to be same quality or thickness as the 12. idk what was lacking here but after putting 570 in this bitch I think it should stay together. ANd thanks for links and replies guys. kinda pissed cause im a semi poor college student and thought if i bought a good prouduct its not gunna break. not dissing DD though. They do make a good product. Maybe I just got unlucky. Calling them today.

you fixed surrounds yourself and it played same for only weeks? and i originally bought 2512 for 300 then recone with supercharge was 270. even so thats a lot for a sub in general so I want some quality and not to break.

I think it has to do with the compound of the surround used that's at issue here cause i have a pair of 6x9's that have had the same thing happen to them as your subs have had. I don't think the butyl rubber compound likes to be pushed as hard as some of the other compounds used for surrounds so they rip at the weakest point which are the corners.

mine isnt really ripped. it more came unglued with slight ripp prolly cause i didnt notice until it was large enough to. still DD should have tested this probably and either fix it or know its gunna happen hopefully and cover it.

We recommend to allow at least several weeks of playing time to break in DD Woofers, full break in may take many months. DO NOT play subwoofers at max amplifier power in the first couple of days, give the suspensions a chance to loosen up.

Dunno if this is relevant for you, but might be something to it.
