C-Fizzy
So I've recently had done bad issues with my spark plug wires. It seems that oil gets inside of the valve and messes with my spark plugs. The wires never sit flush anymore and just today I'm coming home from Osh when I start noticing a sputtering engine and a loud muffler. I get home, pop the hood, and see white smoke coming from my exhaust manifold. 2 of 4 spark plug wires are sitting 3" above the block. I have a feeling my valve cover gasket is bad and is leaking oil into the spark plugs. What do you guys think? Thanks for any help. -Cody Quote under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy? EclipseChris
I assume the plugs are in the center of the cover, in which case this is a very common problem. Pull a plug and if there is any oil on any of them, do the gasket job. Quote i resolve to be a nicer moderator. Tercel build R.I.P. Eclipse build Old New V-Dub My feedback. C-Fizzy
Yup it's the hemispherical valve cover design. And there is oil in those. So it's the gasket? Stephen_og
Sounds like your valve cover is leaking and its causing your plug wires to swell up, common to an extent but you never what to get it that bad lol.. what kind of car is it by chance? I would try and get your valve cover re sealed as soon as possible. EclipseChris
yep 100% oil should never touch spark plugs, let alone the wires. Quote i resolve to be a nicer moderator. Not to mention the noob factor. If it's the first time doing it, it may take at least twice as long.
