large gauge crimper

Recommended Posts

I cover all my connections with electrical tape afterwards. I don't see the point of making a crimp look pretty. And as you can tell by the video, it kept it pretty round.

Rest In Peace mother.

I hate to bump this thread, but I cut open one of the crimp that I made and here is what it looked like:

I used the 16 ton crimper that Decaf suggested :) , 1/0 OFC welding cable, tinned copper lugs, and a 35sqmm die

Even looking at it as close as I can, there is no differentiation between individual strands or the casing of the lug. It looks and feels like one solid chunk of copper

I'll be sure to post up pics of how the 8-ton version i have crimps when i get around to it.

Got mine from seller wegotparts on ebay.

^^ Btw, that's really sweet how your dies imprint the size on your crimp, in case you'd ever forget what size you used =p

is that the largest size dies?

Not by a long shot :)

Left - The smallest die that comes with the 16 ton kit. Works great for 4 gauge

Middle - The die I use for crimping 0 gauge

Right - The largest one. Good for crimping 600MCM cable. I'll be damned if any of you use that for car audio :P

The kit also has everything in between
