I think you need to add another relay that actvates a lit up message saying...are you sure?

Then allows you to press your turbo bass then changes to

"are you crazy?!"

Haha jk...you got that turbo bass son...good shit!

Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. The people who criticize or try and one up you....have a p.o.s to no system at all and will tell you all about this "other" guys system! Saddley I'm sure if I meet this "other" guy...he will probably tell me he thinks your just as annoying as I think you are!

I'm not compensating, just proud of fabricating!

That is so bad ass!!! I was thinking how is he going to switch the diodes (or w.e.) back and forth. Then I remembered the thread title ;)

This is for sure my favorite trunk build out there. So clean and the cool things you do, like the actuator. I would love to do that for my trunk setup but I would still have to move the seatbelt straps out of the road for it to close properly. I bet that sure is a luxury not having to put seats up and down all the time though.

I wonder what other tricks you still have up your sleeves

:drinks:

Ha, I've got a few more tricks coming... ;)

just wow. amazing use of relays. maybe pm me your wiring config? lol and parts list? only issue is im using 4 gauge. also id be curios how much resistance under load they introduce.

I've always wondered if using relay could change speakers impedance. Are you able to share how you wired up the relays to do it?

SO, for those wondering about the added resistance of the relays.

Here is a Fluke desktop DMM, running a 4-wire resistance measurement, zero'd out. Yes, that is showing 20uOhms (micro-Ohms).

750-relayzero_zpsc42594d2.jpg

Here are the Normally Closed terminals. This would represent my 1ohm load configuration. About 4mOhms.

751-relayNC_zps4e4931d0.jpg

Here are the Normally Open terminals. Relay triggered with a 9V battery. This would be my 1/4ohm configuration. About 5mOhms.

752-relayNO_zpsc500b836.jpg

Keep in mind that these alligator clamps from the meter don't have the contact area that the massive spade-crimp terminals do.

Therefore my actual resistance in my car is probly even better.

So, I guessed somewhere in the 10's of milli-ohms and they measure better then that.

In perspective, with a peak current of 70Arms at around ~5mOhms. That's about 25W briefly lost in the relay. Compared to 5kW, I think I can handle that. :D

Due to my stronger connections with the crimp terminals, this is probably worst case.

Also keep in mind that 25W is a lot of heat, but since music is dynamic, this wold only happen during very brief peaks.

Burping test tones would increase the heat but that's never longer then a few seconds anyway.

Given this is also on a test bench and not under power which could alter the measurement as well but with a starting point of just 5mOhms, I'm still not too concerned about any issues.

Hope that helps :good:

Mind explosion is for sure.

I think if I had half the creativity and craftsmanship that you do I'd be so much better off. Oh well... A goal to work towards... Be more like wicks...

If anyone wants a special fabricating rubber bracelet (kinda like the live strong ones) I'm gonna make one for myself that says

"WWWD" What would wicks do

Maybe I'll do a better overall job on future projects because of it.

id be curious about the resistace underload. i didnt think resting would yeild much resistance but how thick are the internals of the relays? when you put a load on it, things are going to change. keep us updated on scores and reliability!!
