:peepwall:

Haha. It needs a lot more attention, but I'm really glad the back is finally shaping up.

I've had to live with that exposed and dirty trunk area for far too long.

:drink40:

Holy crap you make that look easy! Awesome work!

Thanks Man!

Wasn't easy, trust me. :o Use a metal blade on the jigsaw and cut SLOOOWWWWWWW.

The pics look better then up close. There are a few imperfections but when all is wrapped, it should come together pretty nice.

LOL, we all have lots of chances........if Kyle just keeps working on his and doesn't enter. ;)

Thanks.

Hopefully I can this thing done and finally entered in SOTM... :o

My setup should be clean, but its hard to go up against those wall builds :faintthud:

That is too impressive. Looks great while still getting loud...and being able to seat 4 & still having storage room in the trunk? How can you go wrong??! Very nice work!

Also, I'm not sure where to locate it anymore, but what is your box tuned to again?

Thanks Man :drinks:

I was going for a stock look that was functional and still gave me some trunk space.

I knew it wasn't going to be an SPL monster, but I am very surprised with how well its done to be honest.

I, like any other trunk build, really wanted that 150 but realistically didn't actually expect to be able to hit it.

Needless to say I was quite surprised to see that score in my last competition. :D

Box tuning on paper (Torres)

Boxspecs-final-portext_zpsf64f0bdd.jpg

I've heard from various sources that port calculations in Torres are slightly off, but since most everybody uses Torres then I'll go with it.

I suppose I could use a basic formula and try to actually calculate the tuning myself, but since this was a ballpark for my design and I wasn't specifically aiming for anything then so be it. Maybe someday I'll get curious as to how accurate the Torres calculations were.

Here is a measurement of the system with an LCR meter.

XL12InboxDoorOpenImpedance_zps639dcd52.j

As you can see the tuning is a bit lower then on paper which I would expect of most peoples systems.

Implementing the enclosure into a vehicle will greatly change the dynamics.

I'd suggest that everybody get their hands on an LCR meter (SMD IM-SG) and see where their system really is tuned to.

It helps you visualize just how everything works together.

Damn Jamie! I get busy for a week, and you go all out. Nice work my friend. Just a quick question, not a critical one. Is there any reason you rounded off the outer panel on around the 5.0 and the lower panel is 45'd? Just curious. Looking great buddy!

When you coming out here so we can get mine dialed in?

Man I wish i had 1/10th of your skills! Great job on the 50!

Thanks Dude :drinks: Honestly any skills I have are just from jumping in there, failing a couple times and getting the hang of the procedure or technique.

Most of the stuff in this build are things I've never done before.

i still say this needs some b2 CC's !

;) I haven't forgot that. They are intriguing, but I don't think I could squeeze those monster motors in my box though.... :o

Thx Dude. Gotta keep that progress rolling... :detail:

About the trim panels.

I saw Mark (CAF) do some trim panels with 45's and I liked the look of it so I tried it out on the lower panel.

Some of the cuts I've done on this build were sharp 90 degree corners which are very difficult to dress out with vinyl or whatever.

So I needed a more gradual sweep at the corners.

Those 45'd overlaps on the amp corners also help to support the upper panel which I made round since I thought it would complement the lower panel well.

The true test will be when all the panels get wrapped and its finished.

I didn't get too crazy with the trimming around the 5K in case I didn't like the outcome and needed to change it, which I might....who knows.
