How did this work out for you. I was seriously thinking about doing a wall with 2 18's and a huge 18" round port. Everybody said it was a bad idea so I skipped it, but I still wonder if it would work.

Reasoning was for constraints on sub placement and port area.

It worked pretty nice actually, i didn´t own a TL back then so i was blind as hell , that box was 4.8 cubic feet and single 12" aero with a 49 hz tuning, only for SPL comps wich i used only one time, like i said, no TL for testing so i didn´t retune, shrink, move seats or anything, still did a 148.8 @ 53 hz using a single battery and a SS xxx 4k @ 1 ohm lol, that score could have raised a lot with some testing i guess, i´ll never know :(

I want to say that the larger ports tend to act like non-flared horns, in that the sound is concentrated and directional. The sound will sound louder, actually more efficient, in their directed path instead of areas around them. Also, depending on their lengths, there's the potential for frequency based energy increase which would allow it to travel farther, as well as be intensive at the mouth of the horn.

I'd like to see someone build a horned wall, with the horn length going towards the back of the van, where the subs would be mounted.
