SMD VM-1 LED Volt Meter! (its back!) Pics/short vid pg. 19 (new update pg 35)

Recommended Posts

you guys know why i wanted to build one of these? for the SPECIFIC reason that i got tired of my god damn Stinger VM's breaking all the time, for NO reason. I have had them near extreme SPL and vibration and i have had them hooked up with no vibration or sound near by......only to have them die for no reason. Then one day, it might come back on....then die again. That pissed me off so bad, i wanted a new VM with HIGH QUALITY parts that will never break down on you. The price will NOT be in the hundreds but it might be a little above $60.00 at this rate. ONLY because, as stated, we are not making a million Chinese knock offs, i will have to start with less then 500........and that is EXPENSIVE. 500 of something is still a one-off. One-off equals expensive. If i get 100,000 orders, i can greatly reduce the price. And you guys know i always have coupon codes for members. So hang tight and let us finish this project!

Steve since it does skip every .3v, if your voltage reading is in the middle of one of the readings, which way will it go, up or down? I know .3 isnt really a big deal, just curious.

good question...Tony can probably answer that better. Also, FYI: technically, its only skipping .2v.

I think its a cool product Steve. Of course, not everybody will like it or buy it, but I know I will. Haven't had my Stinger die yet, but I have to recalibrate the piece of shit weekly. I think if you can keep pricing a little under the Dakota gauges, many will be sold.

Ahh good point. I fail at looking at the pictures. I still have no clue where to fit 2 VU Dins and 2 of these, plus 6 switches, 1 bass knob, 2 8s, and an ipad in my center console.

no joke bro, i am not just complaining about one bad product i had. Things break, i realize that. But I replaced that thing about 6 times.....i like them so i keep buying them. My ONLY complaint is the quality. Other then that i love those things. The straw that broke the camels back was the two i put in Chickens Hoopty. The one up front AND the one in back both stopped working. The one in back has no SPL on it at all. Then the one i had in my Tahoe for years just stopped working recently. I can't take it no more LOL! Sad, 'cuz like i said, i do like those.

And with that price point you mentioned, you will spend less on VM-1 than on a stinger in the long run...and be more accurate while your at it. No brainier IMO.

ill buy one!!!!

i bought my stinger VM a few years ago from a local shop ($45) still works but i have to recalibrate it every week or so if i want to know the most accurate voltage my amp see's otherwise its off .2 volts normally

which sucks because sometimes i dont know if its my 400 dollar alternator acting up or my $40 VM lol

isnt that the point of gauges? to know ACCURATE detailed info about the equipment its used for?

god only knows what would happen if my A/F and boost gauge in my talon where off a few degree's weekly id end up detonating and screwing up my motor.....

@steve

what's the footprint like on the VM-1? i dont have much room to work with and i love how the stinger VM fits into a empty stock location! hopefully it isnt much bigger :)

any plans for a readout like the stinger?im not really diggin this.guess i gotta be the first one to say it lol.not hating in any way though, jus figured ide make that clear.

I would think half the size total would be more flexible for installation

I think you two should just get together and engineer your own product, and then design your own car audio website and get hundreds of thousands of followers and then sell them your product! I will be the first one in line to come tell you that your product is a piece of shit and you should have done it differently because I just dont like it.

If you dont like it then just dont post, just keep your mouth shut and go read the next thread.

I think you should shut your mouth

this is in the " test " stage if I'm not mistaken and was not criticizing the product ... I think its cool as Hell .. I just did not realize the footprint was as small as it is till I put it on paper.

BTW you don't know me and don't try to be an E thug
