hoit
I'm building a system in a 2007 chevy aveo ls four door sedan (don't laugh). Due to the monster current my amp is requiring, I'm looking at upgrading my big three and installing a h.o. alternator. Anyone know of a great place to get an alternator that will fit? And, if I upgrade my big three and get a new alternator, do I still need an aftermarket battery? What about a capacitor? Watch the bass
First do the Big 3 in 0/1 gauge H/o alt´s you get at Mechmann, DC Power, Singer If you think to use/need a H/O alt get the biggest baddest batt from XS-Power or Stinger that you can fit under the hood. You can think about a cap if your electrical system is the solid rock in your system, otherwise no no it would strain your electrical system. skittlesRgood
in my opinion, having owned a couple of these brands: DCpower > mechman > singer (but i never tried singer) really could go with any of those and you'll get a good alt. almost every other company sells complete garbage. you might need a battery or many, just depends on your power needs. what amps and ohm loads will you be running? dont get a cap unless its a carbon cap Quote If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. hoit
@skittles, its a hifonics 5 channel amp putting out 60x4 rms (4 ohm load, class a/B) + 750 rmsx1 (2 ohm load, class d). im looking at upgrading to some more powerful woofers in the future so that I can utilize the 1 ohm load capability (1000x1) thanks everyone for the feedback! Pro7
I don't think you would have to buy a new alt with that amp. Big 3 and a nice under hood battery should suffice but having solid electrical is never a bad thing especially if you want to upgrade later Quote I've gotten a blowjob and picked up my iphone behind her back to see what email notification I got from smd before

HHR Ed
with your amp it is not necessary to upgrade your alt but it wouldnt hurt. It is more crucial to upgrade your battery. When designing and building up your system the first thing you should do is upgrade the battery. Then depending on how much power you want to run you can add batteries and if you do, then it becomes imperative to upgrade your alternator in order to charge more effectively. During all of this, it will be a given that your wiring must be upgraded. And capacitors are not needed and may in fact hurt your system performance. IndianaBassHead
If you insist on getting an alternator, I love my mechman. It does it's job great. But like previous posts, it really isn't necessary.
