I know you probably have already read shit like this, but from what I've briefly read, ditching the hood blanket could help. BUT it runs the risk of fading the paint... Second Skin makes a spray on coating shit that could probably be used there. Switching to an aftermarket hood(cowl?) could help too. Its been around 100 degrees here the last few days, and the car is running way too hot during city driving, 220-225 coolant temp and 190-200 intake air temp. Gotta handle that. Right? I've actually wanted to get some work done sanding and working on the car outside, but it's so hot, and my neighbors windows beam the sun right on me every damn minute of the lit day somehow, adding another 30*C to make it even nicer. I'm sure you know what you want to do and all, but just as a last resort suggestions you might consider looking into doing something at a refinery close to you, talking to some of the lowest level guys at maintenance at the Tesoro refinery and they make $35-40/hr at the lowest level. If you were a business administrative guy you could probably make a lot, anything oil will make a lot lol. But seriously Get certified, takes 2 days, pass a drug/background check, and an hour long face-to-face class where a guy tells you about site-specific stuff then you get your badge. So easy. There's lots of contractor agencies out there that are hiring plenty of new guys for oil refinery work. To be honest I feel like it's way too easy, if I wanted I could get access to most parts of the refinery with no prior training or experience than whatever the contracting company does. And this isn't a racist thing or whatever, but honestly I noticed that a very large majority of the workers are african americans, I spoke to 3 guys who self-admitted they couldn't find any other work or weren't smart enough for college so they got a job there lol, so if you're confident and smart you'll get picked right up.
