Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs.

Update Time!!

***Drawing an Aero Port***

I figure you guys know how to enter a round port into Torres, it's pretty self explanatory. So I will go ahead and teach you guys how to draw one if you didn't know.

It's pretty simple so just follow along! :good:

First of all if you are making your aero out of pvc here are some charts to show us some sizing information.

Imagine this being the side of your box:

Start by drawing an x where you want your aero to be centered.

Usually you should measure this but for an example I just randomly placed it on there.

36990127.png

For the example we will be drawing a 3 inch pvc aero.

Use the circle tool to draw your outside diameter.

Then the inside:

Then delete the x.

34324522.png

Now use your push/pull tool to push the inner circle back .75 inches to essentially delete the inside of the circle and create your inner wall.

60518498.png

Now use the push/pull tool again on the small ring to set the outside wall and length of the port.

There you go! Simple right? that's all there is to it. Good luck drawing your aeros.

***Aero ports with flares***

Drawing a flared port in more involved than a regular aero. For this reason we will be drawing the port outside the box then move it in.

Start with a basic tube.

You should have a grasp on how to draw this from the beginning of this post.

410w.png

We are using a 3 inch pvc pipe again.

We are going to be putting on a 2 inch flare, so start by drawing an L type shape with the sides being the size of flare you want (2 in.).

411l.png

Then use the curve tool to draw a curve. When you draw a curve, make it so the whole line lights up blue, it should say tangent.

412vs.png

Next you can draw a outer curve to go along with your outer curve, the same method as used before.

413e.png

Now go ahead and delete that triangleish shape and you should just have a contour of your curve.

414k.png

Now we use the follow me tool to trace it around the edge. Click on the face of your contour and move it around the circle until you have your flare.

Repeat on the other side if you want to.

416j.png

Okay, now we have our flared port drawn, we can add it into our box!

Select it all and use the move tool to position it on your box where you want it.

417w.png

I know this looks bad now but trust me it isn't!

Select all, right click, go to intersect, then click intersect with selection.

What this has done is told your port to intersect with the baffle of your box.

click on the faces covering the opening of your port and delete them.

418g.png

419.png

Dont mind the random lines on there I didn't take the time to clean it up too much.

Yay! Thats it, not too terribly confusing is it?

Let me know any questions you have!

Feel free to tell me what I need to add to the tutorial.

IMO you should have avoided using a design that would leave you with nearly no MDF at the top and bottom of your sub cutout. But other than that, the tutorial is easy enough to follow.

Yeah I didn't think about that untill after I made the first 40 pictures. If I were to redo it I would definitely fix that but I just don't have time to go back and entirely rewrite it.

great tutorial helped me a lot

Thanks glad it helped you!
