audiofanaticz
Ive thought about a couch, just to damn small in there when ripping full 4by8 sheets of wood. So lets get some updates here. Almost 2 weeks ago I ordered some new shocks for the car, we had maybe a half inch of clearance with what was in the car not including 4 amps, and 2 beastly subs and the rest of the rear interior. So everything was basically on hold until those arrived and he had his mechanic buddy install them. Forgot to get pics with the old and the new shocks. but here is a pic of the rear air shocks fully deflated (the oem shocks sat about 1/2inch or so lower than these ones with no air in them). Than with them filled with air. The Monroe shocks claim to support up to 1200 pounds, and only costed $72 shipped from RockAuto so not to shabby. They aint no bagged setup, but all we are after is to restore factory ride height with the added weight. Had to cut all the threaded rods down to length so made myself a little vice type thingy with a end stop to get them all cut equal since my actual vice is broken in 2. Next up is to make some templates to make some beauty panels, fit it with cardboard, trace it on to birch and than cut the shape out. Paul said the cardboard didnt look nice enough on its own so added a little cash to increase its value... Test fitting the wood pieces Threaded rod thru the box to support the amps and time to mount amps and get things wired up Audio Technix FTW Got paul putting the 3rd coat of Black paint on Thats it for now, prob going to jack his car sometime this week yet when he is working to wetsand the layer of paint he just put on and give it a 4th coat of paint. PS: Dont pay $26 for 1 year of PhotoBucket PRO!! The only thing useful you gain is no bandwidth exceeded for images, It still takes forever and a year to see all photos, and still get capped at 2500images per folder even tho its unlimited storage. I dont want to have a bunch of folders to open up just to search for a picture... oh well I know what I will never pay for again!
ch0sen
man, thats alot of wire and alot of pictures My current 95 Jetta Build w/ pioneer h/u 2 RD Sonance 10's with flatwind coils 2 Audiopipe apsm 1500.1s 1 Hifonics Brutus Elite 60x4 1 XS d925 1 Stinger spv35 1 1000 amp lead acid 50 ft of 0/1 ofc from Audiotechnix all powerbass components, and coaxils, 4 sets buildlog = http://www.stevemead...2-rd-10s-build/ My build for my wife. http://www.stevemead...01-f-150-build/
audiofanaticz
I had the car again from july 26th-27, and than I ended up keeping it 1 more day which would of been last night. The first night I wanted to do another couple coats of paint and more wetsanding, started to look real good. Oh and built another box (forgot to upload pics) still have to paint the port on it red tho, and wrap the exterior in carpet. I worked all thru the night and came inside about 9:30am. LOL Than just last night/this morning I went ham on some tedious crap that needed to be done, before moving to the next stages. Started out making a single RCA cord for strapping the pair of saz-4500s. Got the ends all soldered on, wire loomed, and heat shrunk. Since the RCA's that are already ran are a tad short to plug into the 4500s I grabbed some old Stinger King Series that are triple sheilded Took the masking tape off the port, still gotta touch up the lines a bit between the white and black Next on the list was to prep the Plasmaglow RGB LED's for inside the box. We will be using these under the dash as well as under the front seats, and possibly the trunk if enough are left over. Plasmaglow claims you need to use a seperate brain/power module for these little LED strips for color changing abilities and what not. I figured if I bought a extension cord for the underbody plasmaglow kit and chopped one end off and pluged the other end into a free port on that brain and test wires I could get them to work without that 2nd brain, this way colors would fade and change with the underbody kit in sync. So I needed to extend the wires for inside the box, I ended up chopping a old radio harness up from a kenwood flipout screen that had the separate brain that had to be hidden away. The led strips where spaced a bit apart, so I cut them in half, removed some extra wire, resoldered them together and heat shrunk the wires. Next up I added the extra length of wire from the old kenwood harness Twisted them up with a drill And than again more heat shrinking
audiofanaticz
After that I got the lights placed inside where they illuminated the port how I wanted. Now here is where the disappoint set in. Went inside to grab the woofers, get them prepped for installing. Goto pull the rubber gaskets off so I can drill the screwholes out, and a rubber gasket was glued to the surround!! Ended up busting out my stock of CA Glue and got some glue under the surround that slightly lifted and around the edge to be extra safe. Proceeded to do what I originally inteded before getting sidetracked by the glue. Some nice heavy dute Spax screws to mount woofers And finished up my night by stuffing them in the hole and now its time for bed :D
