Trunk Wall, 0.5 or 2 ohm.

Recommended Posts

So, I've had my subs wired to 2 ohmss on my BRZ2100.

They hit, but my friend said that it isn't really pushing my sub.

I have a Kinetik 1800 literally 6 inches from my amplifier & a 150 amp alternator.

Should I bother trying to wire it to half ohm before I wall off my box in my trunk or just stick with 2 ohm?

New amp is out of the question, working on paying off my car.

Big 3 isn't done yet, but is an option down the road.

The subs are SA-12s.

Hifonics BRZ 2100.1D

2100 @ 1 ohm @ 14.4V

1400 @ 2 @ 14.4V.

I don't think I'm at a constant 14.4V, so would half ohm be a good idea & could this amp hold that if I adjust the gain moderately. ( Friend has DD-1 ).

Seal from the trunk, and do the big 3. Then go from there. And dont tempt to run at .5 if you at least don't have the big 3. But that's my opinion.

question. why didnt you get dual 4's?

edit: you're throwing a hypothetical 700w per woofer on a 600w sub. why does your friend say that they arent really pushing them?

You don't even think about .5 is the big 3 is not done. You will burn through your wires. Also take this into account, if you don't have enough for a new amp, and have to pay off the car, try not to run .5 for the risk of blowing the amp.

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

@kranny, because I'm an idiot. I wanted to run 3 @ 1.3 ohms but. 2sa-12s is more than enough. I under-estimated them. Also they are def not seeing 700rms da. Maybe 450-500ish. I'm not playing at 14.4v. Been waiting on my meter for a month now so I don't have an accurate read but I'm guessing somewhere in the, ,13v range
