A little off topic but on my area you may now carry a taser as long as you have your proper gun permits. Anyone know some good models? I'm not talking handheld, but a taser ecd. Let me know what you guys think!

The only one I've read info on that looked nice is the Taser x26 ECD. Any others?

The M26 and C2 are also effective... Any of the models that are available to civilians work well... They have some bad ass other options but you have to be Law Enforcement to get them

The X3 is the baddest one on the market right now I would say

The other thing is bro that if you get one of the mentioned models... KEEP all your receipts and stuff... If you have to use the Taser in self defense get a copy of the police report and stuff and send it into Taser with the used cartridge and you can get lifetime replacement cartridges :)

Hmm, I like.

I like the price too. Still waiting on whether or not I'm hired at my second job, if I get it I'll be looking at getting a gun in the next couple months! :) If I can't get a second job, I'll be looking around at tax return time. I'll call the local shops to see if they carry it so I can go in and see how it fits into my hands. Hoping the compact size isn't uncomfortable in my larger hands.

Ok guys, bumping this. I am DEFINITELY getting a gun come tax returns. I'm especially getting it to make sure my gun is "grandfathered in" if by some off-chance that Florida (or the U.S.) bans guns.

I'm definitely, at first, going to get a .38 revolver. Later on I can dabble in larger calibers, like the Springfield XD-S .45. :) The exact model will depend on some personal handling of the guns, but after looking through impactguns and watching personal reviews on guns, I think I might like the Smith and Wesson 637.

Would that be a gun you guys would recommend? From my limited experience with firearms, it seems to me that Smith and Wesson is a reputable company. I mean, they have rounds named after them.

One other question is, what ammunition would you recommend for a 38 SP +P Revolver for personal defense? I will only target shoot with the rounds I plan to carry, so I know exactly what to expect in the real world.

And where could I find an pocket holster? I think the .38 should be able to fit in my pocket (I generally wear loose fitting, sometimes baggy pants) and because the revolver relies on an heavy trigger pull for it's safety, I want to completely eliminate the chances of the trigger/hammer catching in my pocket and going off on me.

Thanks guys! :)

I'm with n8 about revolvers so I would say if you're considering the xD or any other semi-auto I would get that first. As for your revolver choice, just like car audio and anything else, people like particular brands and have there reasons for it, but after doing some very, very in-depth research on S&W for school last semester I can say they will never get a dime of my money (nor will I buy anything second hand). People praise how well their products are made however there is a large group of people who will say otherwise if they were to voice their opinion. If you dig into their financial statements (and know what you're looking at/for) look at how much of an impact their returns and warranties of firearms alone had on their huge net losses over the past few years. I'm honestly surprised they are able to stay in business with how much money they lose every year.

i like my taurus cia 650 .357mag, i use .38 sp in it. It is hammerless, so no snagging in the pocket. as for personal defense rounds, there are so many in that round it is almost intimidating. But there are so many, its hard to go wrong. lehigh makes some of the most awesome looking rounds i have seen. http://lehighdefense.com/Maximum-Expansion.html

as for a pocket holster, they sell them at walmart here, or scheels, or amazon.com, or a milliion other places. i like leather the best

I thought I was set on a glock but I didn't realize the Glocks only have a trigger safety. Now I'm considering other options. This is for mainly concealed carry and at the range.

Other than the Glocks, I want to try a Springfield XD Compact .40/9mm, and a S&W M&P .40/9mm.

Any other guns under $600ish you would recommend? Also looking for smaller calibers for cheaper ammo. Let me know what you guys think, thanks.
