Extending 1/0 Wire

Recommended Posts

What about the kind they use for welding..the disconnects. They make em up to 2/0 I think and they are protected. Let me get the link lol

https://weldingsuppl...s.net/LC-40.pdf

i use to use those for hydraulic quick disconnects 10 batts in series 120 volts worked well that would work but i would be scurred of it getting pulled out by mistake

hmm never thought of that..they always seemed to lock in securely on our welder. Could always wrap in electrical tape for added assurance.

Also if you used one of those connectors for welding in the link I posted above you have the option to move again. You would jujst have to change the length of the second wire and re--attach the connector onto the shorter/longer second run.

I like those too. Do you basically just twist one way to lock in, and twist the other way to unlock?

Pretty much, I even have a pair laying around I could send over to you if you want

Oh, sweet. Are yours good for 1/0? Whats their ampacity rating? How much would you want? lol

I recently ran into this issue and i stripped and soldered the 2 ends together. It was not pretty. Had a big solder buldge that I then had to grind down. I like the 1/0 connector idea then maybe shrink wrap on top of that + etape and loom. A few other good ideas in this thread.

The safest way I think would just be to get an inline fuse holder, it will solve the problem and add an extra fuse which never really hurts.

best safe way i can think of is put a distro block there or a fuse holder

i just broke my wire stretcher so that wont work :(

Was gonna say this so ill just say x2

And the fact more than one person agrees does not make it a circle jerk, it makes it a bukkake scene and you're in the middle ;)

Ill still have a fuse on each end of the total run either way.

are you going to move the 3sixty?

Yeah, Im going to put that along with the amps where the battery and "emergency box" were. That area is actally pretty deep.

Im going to have my subs and port firing into the cabin, but sealed off on the black bar for the privacy cover.
