Kicker to subwoofers is what Beats are to headphones.

Anyway, I'm in the same scenario as well. Just listened to the Sennheiser HD558, which sound incredible without an amp, but the bass is lacking. I don't think they were modded neither. But I need a bit more bass from a headphone. The open air on then is bad when you have an A/C in your window, and a family that is loud.

Looking at the DT770. Was always attracted to them since I seen them on Westwood videos.

I'm not a big headphones person. I got the Beats for free and as pissed when they broke, then I picked up a thirty of forty dollar pair of SkullCandy buds and never looked back. I can't imagine spending into the triple digits on damn portable music.

If you like Solo HDs, then you would love Soul SL150's. . .much better. Still not an audiophile type headphone, but much cleaner sound than the solo's.

I got a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's. Greatest quality I've ever heard. They were $90 when I got them. Price could have dropped. They also have a very easy potential mod. You take the cans apart and smear around sticky-tak inside the can and close it back up. It makes the bass hit louder, and is easily reversible/adjustable.
