Anyone Ever build a box with particle board?!?!?

MDF 3/4 sheet is about $40 and i was wondering if anyone has built a box out of particle board,

particle board sheet cost $15... look and feels strong enough, just dont know if it would leak air??

NOTHING DOWN HERE YET :(

Its brittle and lacks the strength mdf has. seal it real well. I would just pay the extra 25 get MDF or even quality birch at a lumber yard..

Only if you are in a real pinch at this point in time and plan to rebuild it when you have the funds to do in mdf.

PB is ok for trying new box designs your not familiar with as to keep the cost low enough to try many box configurations out.

home depot sells MDF for $30. if you use particle board dont spend a lot of time on the box, use longer screws and seal it up nice. If you can just get MDF, way easier to work with as well.

Just be honest, it's always a work in progress with ever changing plans.

i've built tons of boxes out of mdf, i just dont have much cash atm, bought a new car... no bass :(

Use the particle board seal it up well and see if you like the box design. I agree with Skullz..it will allow you to play with different designs until you find the good one and then go from there in MDF. But imo its not as good as mdf. I might use it as a temporary thing but it wont last as long.

Yep, 16 and in high school. I didn't even know about MDF.

Used to build for all my friends 25 bux + materials. lol

OP - It is more important to predrill with PB though...
