Wallaceman
Ok so here's the deal, we just finished building my friends new sub box for his Kickers (meh) and we were going to paint it with bed liner or appliance paint but he got an idea to use Duck tape around the box then spraying or painting a clear coat on to protect the tape.... The idea is to have it look like it's wrapped in tape... Im a little hesitant to do this because I don't want to rebuild his box so do you think it's possible? If so, whats the best way to coat the Duck tape so that it won't peel? Just be honest, it's always a work in progress with ever changing plans. Jessica
just keep it under 200mph and you'll be fine. I doubt you would have much luck getting it to stick imo. Your'e going to have to make sure the box is super clean and then you will till have all those seams where the edges of the tape meet. Or is that part of the idea? You can get texture paint that should match the look of the tape i would think, maybe try that instead? Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. Tebo
You need aluminum tape. I built a shitty sealed box with a couple nasty gaps didnt have money to rebuild so i covered the whole box in aluminum tape sealed it perfectly and looked pretty cool. ChevyBoy95
guys, guys, guys. I think he means just the look of duct tape, like the layering, and having it permanent. I know it might not appeal to most of us, but if someone wants it, they want it. I would suggest primering or doing some paint to the box to get a surface the tape will stick to well, and then maybe resining it, i dont the the clear would do well on duct tape. TheBetterMethod
Try a paint that's designed for use on plastics. Duct tape's outer layer is polyethylene, so most paint's will have an issue sticking. I think a brush-on urethane might be worth trying. It'll have less solvent so it won't attack the rubber adhesive...maybe. 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon Pioneer 9400BH Fi Q 15, SAZ1500dV3 The first build>>> http://www.stevemead...-outback-build/ 140.9 @ 36hz Sealed on dash!
