This depends on COL (Cost of Living). 100k in DC is ok, but by no means is outstanding, but make that 100k back home (St Louis) and yea, it is a lot of money...but no where near 'wealthy'. Even though the price of goods and services is higher in those localities, it is because the higher taxes are passed to the consumer. It is a viscous circle.
