buying used batteries

sat i should be picking up 2 juice box 31's. if you havn't heard of them they are supposedly the same bat as xs but just under a different name. what are some things i should check before i make the finale purchase?

I would not go so far as to say they are the same, i myself prefer something that is known and proven to be reliable and dependable over a long period of time.

The only two brands i look into are deka and xs power for the power i need.

They seem like a stout battery but they are not the same as xs power, someone said awhile ago that they came from the same build house but nathan put that rumour to rest.

Well what else would you say? Yes they are and they are cheaper?

As far as buying used batteries, I don't mind. Batteries generally have a very long useful service life since they are some of the most expensive disposable things you can purchase short of space probes. I say disposable for a reason, technically they can be reconditioned but it's like a BIC lighter- use it and chuck it when it quits it's easier than monkeying with a refill.

They are not the same batts, or even built in the same place for that matter. I've had both batteries.. Good luck getting ahold of Great Lakes Battery when something goes wrong.

Take a volt meter, and you can also buy what's a load tester, for around $25 it tests your cranking amps, generally 700AMP or more is good.

I wasmt sure if they were or not, thats just what I have heard. But for 200 a piece even if they could be mistaken for the same battery thats a good deal. I planned kn bring my volt meter when I go to pick them up amd I know the guy keeps them on a tender once in awhile so they shoukd be well taken care of.

Pretty sure there was a load test where an xs batt outperformed 2 or 3 of the same sized juicebox batts. But as to used batteries I tend to shy away unless I know the owner personally and know what they have been through. Just my opinion.
