I mean theoretically, i guess yes would be the answer, but should a sub not made for an infinite baffle me used in one? REVOofRustler Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 I think the idea behind an infinite baffle is that there is no enclosure, so air space really shouldn't come into play. An ideal infinite baffle would be a sub dropped into a huge, endless baffle (infinite baffle) in a completely open space. As far as I understand, the logic behind this is that the front and back waves made by the sub never meet, so there is no cancellation. Infinite baffle subs are made to cope with not having any "back pressure" created by an enclosure without bottoming out. It will work as long as the driver don't go over Xmax, you can help prevent that using the amp subsonic filter. A driver with a big Xmax will be harder to bottom out.

It works, just surf youtube looking for woofers being burnt in free air. I guess you'll lose some control as you need to down the power (in some cases a lot).
