Eddie Long Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 I found a really good deal on 3 new T3 Audio T1000 12's. I have been researching and some people are saying that the spiders are not that good but everything else is great. I'm wondering if anybody knows where to buy replacement spiders from just in case they do fail ? Thanks
Toxik_Audio Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 I know when you replace spiders you have to replace the cone and the coil too. You might be able to salvage the coil but I don't recommend that for mine spec of view. I worked at a recone shop and they used to do that sometimes but that way is more likely for the sub to fail. I never had the chance to hear or recone one of those subs but I heard great things about them. If you have the ti frame then u need the 10 inch spiders and I have seen members here selling them. Good luck with your new subs
ChevyBoy95 Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 what is a "good" deal. if they are from t3's buyout(near end of business) i would stay away... C-Fizzy Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 I would stay away from t3 in general. Unless you get the unicorn tsns's with the trf motors. under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy?
audiofanaticz Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 As someone else said, the spiders can only be changed if and or when you recone the woofer. If your wanting to keep the woofer stock and as is from TC Sounds you are stuck with what you got, and good luck getting any recones for them if they do blow since the company is out of business for the 3rd or 4th time. Those subs only have a 2.5inch coil on them also, so finding aftermarket recones maybe a challenge since PSI really only does 3inch coils and up. Theres some other manufactures that offer 2.5inch coil recones, however the T3 t1000 woofer uses a TI style basket with a 9.75inch spider diameter, which is easy to find, except when you need to find that size spider with a 2.5inch opening. Not as common or easy. The only thing worth while on those woofers is the TI style baskets, thats about it, especially if your wanting to buy a new sub and already wanting to change parts on it, its not for you by anymeans. A similar thread to yours is posted here. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/129064-t3-audio-as-a-whole-good-or-bad/
Lbox88 Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 Save your money man, I had T.1000's. Not worth it. UBL | Build Log
Toxik_Audio Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 for reals they only have 2'5 coils? I thought they had 3inch coils and they look pretty beefy
Lbox88 Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 And BTW, you won't ever be able to get recones from them, at least from PSI or obviously T3 since they are gone now. UBL | Build Log
Eddie Long Posted October 4, 2012 Author Report Posted October 4, 2012 thanks very much for all of the input from everybody. After thinking about it .....I am just gonna stick with my original plan and get 3 SSA DCON 12's. The Dcon's are only 300 rms but I can't find anything negative about them......thanks again for everybody's help here
