Finding the Unknown's of a custom Sub.

I have a 12" sub that was custom built, and the guy was trying to tell me the info off memory. he said 500 Rms al day every day forever.... but i really hope that is under powered...

But i was wondering how i can figure out the Actual power handling of the sub.

It is an Alpine Type-R 15" motor, reconed as a 12 with carbon fiber cone, high roll surround, etc.

He also said the are dual .7 ohm coils, but i ohmed them at exactly 1 ohm per coil...

So pretending i know NOTHING about the sub, how can i find out all the good info??

Thanks!

What do you want? T/S parameters or power handling or what?

Power handling... If it stinks on clean power, back it off a bit lol.

Haha, yes i would like to mainly know its true power handling.

I'm running a RF 600.1Bd. Which is about 750RMS at 2 Ohms. and it sounds clean even on full gain. and even after an hour of constant bumping, its only mildly warm.

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

If you have it at full gain you're doing something wrong.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.
