fi btl wired to dual 5.5 ohm

Im interested in getting this fi 18 but the coil configuration is a custom dual 5.5ohm

what does this mean, if i buy one can i wire it down to 2.sumthin ohm or 1ohm? i have no clue

should i buy 2 of them 4 a lower impendance opportunity?

my amp is .5ohm stable

ive never heard of a btl reading 5.5 ohms. Sounds like someone is trying to sell you a partially cooked woofer to me.

yea, the coils offered are only dual 1 or 2 ohm configurations.

Unless it was rebuilt by someone else to have a 5.5 ohm coil put in it??? If thats the case, I wouldnt see why you would want that for home or car use, let alone such an odd number and far far from the normal dual 1, 2, 4, 8 ohm voice coil impedance's.

Best idea is to stay far clear of said deal on that woofer.

like i said in my first post its a CUSTOM configuration @ dual 5.5ohm. The guy used four of them in finals and bass race comps. I dont wanna buy all four and can buy one or two but this custom work concerns me how i can wire one or two of them down. I do not at all suspect he is selling me faulty stuff. he says something about scott at FI never forgetting these subs.

the lowest you can wire to is 2.75 ohms for one 1.375 for two. Id steer clear of what someone calls a custom sub. Thats just me. Unless you can get it so cheap that you can recone it with a standard recone and it still be affordable. I can not think of any reason to have 5.5 ohm coils. It doesnt really get you to a sweet spot of any amps.

what finals did he use these in. Do you know who put his "CUSTOM" coils in the sub? I can call Scott or Shawn from FI to verify if it was done by them but I have never heard of such a thing. You have gotten responses by 3 mods telling you to stay clear. If you want to be a dumbass and still purchase the sub then by all means but dont come in here after saying you are having issues.

In all of my time being in the game i have NEVER heard of custom 5.5 coils. I can tell you can read but it seems your comprehension is suffering at the moment. We are telling you to stay away!
