Not all shops are like that. Our shop we actually have very decent prices. Because we don't fully rely on audio to pay the bills. We do detailing and window tinting also. My buddy from school knows I was into audio. He called me asked if I had any wire and could hook up his system I said sure being it up here. Said best buy had an amp kit for $150. Came to us got him a wiring kit, installed his Hu, sub, amp. All for around $160. We have some of the most competitive prices in my area from prior experiences. But we just can't give stuff away at the same time.

So the chump asks me what I was trying to do, I told him im running Sundown subs and Skar amps and he is like " wtf is a Skar?? Lmao. He goes on to tell me how his "Volfenhag"" system was the SHIT!! I Jus face palmed and trotted my ass outta that rat hole of an install spot!

Audio shops today are... like any other shops

Some do good some do not

Some restaurants are good some are not

Some schools are good some are not

Some bars are good some are not

Some barber shop are good some are not

Don't see why we complaint if everything else is the same

To those complaining tell me what have you done to make it better?

Cause I've done nothing lol

A shop a minute where I live wanted to charge me 5$ for an agu fuse I said nevemind turned around then he said 2$ and walk out drove 15 minutes into town got one for 50 cents

What complainers do to make it better is nothing, other than go "shop" the stores just to go buy it on Amazon. Screw the car audio industry, you can dig your own grave!

I know at our shop we sell the American bass fuse holder that's excepts zero gauge for normally $15 as long as we have some in.

There is a shop around where I live that charged a guy almost 20,000 bucks for 4 re xxx 12's, two Re MT everest amplifiers, all the parts, labor, and two custom leather front seats and headliner and he had the receipts to back it up...Sad part about it was he was on facebook bragging about it and there are people now who think they have to pay that much to get that loud. Even sadder thing is he's barely any louder than me and I run a Brutus 1700.1 on 4 skar vvx 12's in a 8 cubic ft. box tuned to 32.5 hertz with 3 six inch aero ports... Also (back in my noob days) I went to an audio shop and they charged me 600 dollars to install a 12 inch memphis sr series subwoofers, a small sealed box, a 150 watt amp, the wires and a JVC arsenal head unit.. Shops have no respect from me whatsoever. Anytime I bring up any brands like sundown, skar, and audioque around here kids my age think its garbage cause they've never heard of it and talk about how their two 10 inch alpine type r subs blew out their back windshield on 600 watts in a shitty prefab...

Have any of you owned or ran a buisness??? Overhead is a bitch

Just saying

And the internet killed the audio shops

A shop buys an amp for 400 bucks has to mark it up to 600 to make a profit and help keep the lights kid comes in how much for that amp shop says 600 kid looks at you like you are trying to rip him off saying I can go to so so.com and get it for 405 bucks cause so so.com sells 100's of these amps and the 5 dollar profit is fine for them good luck if you have a problem with the amp a lot of .coms your on your own not all the shop is a building you can take the amp back to and work with them on the warrinty issue

Have you ever had your woofers blown?

I paid $50 to get my first system installed (at a local shop - in 2007). 2-10's, amp, head unit, & wiring. I was 17 & couldn't beat the price.

Wrecked my car, so I had to take it out, found out it was extremely easy to put it in my new car...then friend's started coming to me for small installs (radio, door speakers...)

My friend just went to the shop I applied it. He payed $800 for a kicker 300.2, an 8 gauge wiring kit, and a cvr 10 in a prefab box. I understand that they have to make money, but the quality of the install was far below what a refuteable shop should be doing. Amp wasn't mounted, wires in plain sight, box not secured and flopping around. It was a pathetic excuse for an install at best.
